NBC Sucks!

I'd just like to say how NBC sucks with this "TRIANGLE COVERAGE" BS that they are selling. Apaprently, they are utilizing their 2 other CABLE channels to broadcast the Olympics and for a person, LIKE ME, who doesn't have cable, I can't watch alot of the Olympics event.

For example, China is playing USA in soccer tommorrow and it's being covered on MSNBC which is a cable channel. Lame.

Well, it's not only NBC that does this. My cable provider also carries CBC and I was watching the women's 4x100 swimming relay through their coverage last night. The Canadian team finished 7th and the commentators did nothing but say how the Canadian team had set a new Canadian record in the event. They were even interviewed immediately following the race and there was no mention that they had finished damn near last, but rather on them breaking their own record.

I think it's nationalism more than anything else. My opinion is that you'll be hard-pressed to find unbiased coverage of the Olympics anywhere in the world from a participating country.

Thats not true at all. Just about an hour ago they did a special on some Turkish weightlifter and how he lives his life and spends his time. He lifted 3x his own weight to win gold.

Sure they might have done that one story, but they probably have done 10 others on American athletes.

I sat down for a few minutes last night to watch the opening ceremonies. As the Bermuda contingent walked past, they commented on the men wearing Bermuda shorts. The female anchor wondered out loud why the women were not wearing Bermuda shorts. The male anchor(Costas?) said &quot;that would be excellent question to ask the Bermudans&quot;. I quit watching.

You know what sucks more? That NBC still shows their regular crap instead of olympics stuff. For instance, in the morning today on NBC they were still showing those wannabe crap teen shows that are completley lame.

This is my take on it: if you are going to cover the olympics, COVER THE DAMN OLYMPICS. NBC should _at least_ be showing 8+ hours of coverage on NBC itself (pretty much every hour that isnt a big show, like the nightly news or something like that), and nearly all the time on their other channels (for instance, 24 hours on CNBC during the weekends (and anytime on weekdays when their normal programming ends, which is around 8pm I believe), and most of the time on MSNBC).

Come on, don't get the rights for olypic coverage if you arent going to devote your airtime to it.

I agree, they should be showing the olypmics all day long with only breaks for the local news and commericals. Plus, i still hate this cable channel BS. Triangle coverage my ...

Gee I can't believe what I'm hearing here. I turn on my TV to nothing BUT the Olympics all day and all night (it's on as I'm posting), and you people want MORE? Believe it or not, there is more to life than the Olympics, and not everyone has the tenacity to sit down for EIGHT hours a day.

That's why they have two other channels to cover things on, because God knows (and apparently I may be the only one else that knows it) YOU CAN'T COVER THE OLYMPYICS ON ONE CHANNEL! How hard is that of a concept to understand? Three channels is better than one, and if you care so much about the olympics, go find someone with cable, and have them tape it for you.

And what year is it now? 2000? There's about 353,233,527 sites out there with coverage on it, go check them out. Frankly, I don't see how any station could cover it better than NBC, with the situation they warrant. Cable has been around for decades now...had the coverage been HDTV ONLY, then I would understand your complaint.

And you know what? The baseball playoffs will be on ESPN for some of the games! ESPN SUCKS! CNN is cable only! CNN SUCKS! Etc, etc.

What really sucks about their coverage is how they split up events because they are not covering anything live due to the time difference. So, when I was right in the middle of watching the triathlon highlights, they switch to swimming or something like that. Then I have to sit through that until they decide to go back for the finish of the triathlon. Pricks. Show an entire event THEN move on.
