NBC looking to kill "The Office" already and Fox may axe Arrested Development

*bump as I just watched last night's The Office*

I wasn't crazy about The Office at first either, but I kept watching it and now I'm really liking it, although last night's episode was the weakest so far IMO. It's definitely forced and over the top (I like the way they let awkward silences hang) but I think that's part of the bizzare charm. I don't see it having a long run even if it does take off though. It's just such a tightly-defined universe that it won't be easy to branch out storylines that would make it different and engaging each week and able to string things out over 6 or 7 years. That more than anything might be what kills it as NBC DESPERATELY needs some sitcoms to fil the void in their post-Seinfeld/Frasier/Friends slump. I love Scrubs, but realize it doesn't have the same mass appeal those shows did.

Problem with "The Office" is that Steve Carroll totally pwned the show. Like no other character stands a chance next to The Boss...so all the episodes seem very one-dimensional.

edit:

Fox should kill "Life on a Stick". Dumbest show ever. I've seen 3 episodes via torrent and they're ALL THE SAME! The only reason I watched is I was hoping the redhead gf chick would get nekkid and do an x-rated scene. But we know that'll never happen.

Bumping for update on show status.

Just read an article about NBC's newly released schedule for this fall.
The Office has been renewed despite lousy ratings.:thumbsup:

WHAT THE FVCK? They are cancelling summerland? Call me what you will, but it's one of the three shows we watch each week. I thought it was doing well...

I'm sorry but that show really sucked. It was cheesy and well sucked.

The office was horrible, it was forced comedy, but AD was definitely funny in its own way.

I can't believe how many morons there were in this thread. Remind me to kick you in the genitals if we're ever forced to watch tv in the same room.

I figured AD was cancelled because the guy that plays Gabe is already on that new show on Fox about the chef.
