Being let in by the property owner is not breaking and entering. And it was disgusting to read about.

Heard it was boarded up and they needed a crowbar, also reports of the landlord being paid for entry (one report was $1,000)

Most sources say there is no way the Feds could have cleared it in that amount of time.

Landlord is denying that he allowed access.

they also say someone random went in with a Dog.

i saw the cbs news one and was thinking this very thing lol -

When he was asked why he allowed the reporters inside the apartment, he explained that he didn’t give them permission, rather the media rushed in “like a garage sale.”

strange 2 days after and it's not locked down by the fbi?

I am also surprised they left it unattended/guarded. Really a poor job on multiple fronts.

The landlord was the one who pried open the door. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he was paid but I'm not buying he wasn't doing so for the reporters.

He said/they said at this point....

regardless they being the professionals should have known better, putting up pictures of kids and what not....

But still, figure the authorities should have been guarding this property if they wanted it secured.

From what I read, this is much ado about nothing. The government was done with the scene and released it back to the owner, who was then free to do as he wished with his property.

There was no evidence seal, police tape on the location. So this would mean the location is available for public access as long as the landlord permits access.

@kellyo was deleting posts about it from her twitter feed pretty quickly so figure something wasn't quite right.

NPR played a taped interview with the landlord. He stated that the property was released back to him and that he allowed the reporters in. So either he gave different accounts to different news agencies or somebody else is making stuff up.

If the landlord was smart he should keep the place as is and charge regular people 10 bucks to tour the terrorist horror house. Come in folks see how the terrorists lived inside, 10 dollars.

Nah, 10 bucks is too cheap. Should be more than that while it is current.

wow, really? after two days the media had carte blanche in that apartment?!?!

Something just doesn't seem right about that.

that was my thought. with all the pictures and such the media was showing though..

such disgusting journalism though CNN and BBC should be embarrassed for doing that.

This is par for the course for the news media. Ghoulish. Voyeuristic. These people would point their camera through the windows of people who were just informed their son was murdered if they could get away with it.

So if you live in an apartment and you die within days of your death your landlord is completely free to allow anyone he wants to go in and start going through all of the property that now belongs to your next of kin?

I would think the landlord would be free to enter, but I don't think he'd be free to rifle through the belongings, beyond boxing them up for the inheritors of the estate.

This is absurd, you mean to tell me 48 hours after a terrorist attack the police have already finished looking at everything? Everything about this seems wrong..
