NBA: Uh oh for NJ Nets.......Kenyon Martin asks to be traded

KMart doesn't blow. He's a big reason the Nets made it as far as they did. When Richard Jefferson decided to pull a Keith Van Horn in the playoffs and Finals, KMart stepped up. His game is still unrefined, but he's incredibly athletic and can add lots to his game.

cliftonite,

you gotta offer somebody with equivalent talent, skill, and ability:

travis knight for kenyon martin!!

If Kenyon Martin leaves the nets then the Nets may not make the finals this year. It is hard to trade for equivalent talent since Kenyon Martin is not that refined as a player. His style of play focuses more on hustle and etc...If you see kenyon martin played in the finals against Tim Duncan, you will know why the Nets are not giving him the maximum contract. I dont think Kenyon Martin can be traded for equivalent because they would have to get a person with equivalent salary back...

You want to give up a future first ballot hall of famer for Kmart :disgust: Fredic Weis for Kenyon Martin!!

Kmart is going to be a great player but I think he needs to accomplish more in his career before he makes too many demands. He isn't Magic or Jordan after all.

to be honest, i hope the Nets do trade him away. KMart will always be a good player but i doubt he will ever be a superstar.

It will be interesting to see what they can get for kmart tho.

My thoughts exactly. He doesn't deserve to be maxed out methinks.

This guy isn't worth that much! Not even 66 million over 6 years!

Nets would be nothing without Jason Kidd, and the only reason Kenyon Martin looks good is because of Jason Kidd. Without Kidd, Kenyon Martin is nothing.

KMart stepped up? I guess you were one of the many who didn't watch last year.

Game 6: 3 for 23 with 6 points.
Game 5: 2 for 8 with 4 points.

He's a good player who thinks he's a great player. Kidd comes back and he decides he wants to be traded? He's a punk.

i did watch the playoffs last year.

i said "He's a big reason the Nets made it as far as they did".

Game 4: 20pts, 13rebs, 3blks
Game 3: 23pts, 11rebs, 4stls, 2blks
Game 2: 14pts, 5rebs, 4asts, 2blks
Game 1: 21pts, 12rebs, 2blks

Regular season: 16.7 pts, 8.3 rebs, 2.4 asts, 1.27 stls, 0.91 blks
Playoffs stats: 18.9 pts, 9.4 rebs, 2.9 asts, 1.45 stls, 1.55 blks

Yeah, his two worst games were in the last two of the Finals, but if you look at the playoffs, he stepped up. Look at RJ's numbers...every stat is lower in the playoffs.

Way to look at two games and make a blanket statement.

btw, i don't necessarily think that KMart is worth that much right now. The Nets will, however, need to think twice before letting him go.

i seriously feel that if u take kidd away from martin, he will just plain suck. i hope they do trade his butt away and let some other team overpay for kmart. perhaps the nets should trade him for a decent pf (kurt thomas would do fine) and draft picks.

as an avid knicks fan, i would NOT want that overrated cocky ass bastard on the team, and definitely not trade Kurt Thomas for him. Thomas, while hot headed and sometimes a little dirty, has excellent hussle and good bball fundamentals. if only he could keep his temper down (much improved) and get his fouling under control (needs work).

but i do want to see KM traded somewhere, like memphis or the clippers and see how much he talks there

Kidd easily ups KM's market value by 300%.

I am curious to see if Kmart can make an all-star team with Kidd. Its been two seasons already...
