NBA Playoff scenarios

Link

Check out some of these scenarios. Washington and Milwaukee will play each other tomorrow and Washington currently has a one game lead. Both Washington and Milwaukee have two games left.

Therefore, if Washington beats Milwaukee, THEY CANNOT END UP TIED. I dunno why the Washington Wizards people wants to confuse people with those charts.

As a Bulls fan, let me say this. There are a total of 42 possible outcomes for the rest of the Chicago/Milwaukee/Indiana/Washington games. In 8 of those outcomes, Chicago finds itself as the No. 5 seed. However, they would need to go 2-0 in every one of those outcomes.

it's pretty messed up in the West when the 6th seed will have easier matchup than the 5th seed (i am sure they would rather play Denver (3rd seed) than Dallas (4th seed))...

heard some interesting articles on if a team (either the Memphis or the Clippers) would throw some of their last games so they can face Denver instead of Dallas...

This is EXACTLY why they need to reseed the playoff teams after the season.

The seed #s only matter for the first round, though. If Dallas were to play anyone except san antonio, they'd have home court advantage after the first round.

re-seeding won't help in the 1st round. the only thing that would make a difference is if they changed the seeding solely based on W-L record instead of ranking the division leaders 1st, 2nd and 3rd and then using the records to seed 4th-8th.

if the seeds were based solely on W-L records, Dallas and San Antonio would be seeded 1st and 2nd...

Yeah, but then people might argue unfairness if one team is in a tough division where they have to play a lot of good teams 2 more games each. Sort of the reverse of new jersey this year.

whoever's at 6th, 7th, and 8th seed in the east might as well throw in the towel and not head into the playoffs, it'd be pretty damn amazing to upset Detroit, Miami and to a lesser extent, Jersey.

I think it would only be truly amazing to upset detroit at this point. NJ looked good for a while but has been sliding a bit. I don't think it's just going into safe mode once they got the division either, because they were toe and toe with miami and had they sealed a better record, would have had home court against miami.

Miami has shown weakness in some cases against high scoring teams.
