Nba: Knicks D'Antoni resigns

Miramonti

D'Antoni just resigned according to Espn radio. He sucked defensively, was ok offensively if he has a very good point guard who can create. No big loss here imo.

Knicks win with Lin, Chandler, and a bunch of solid role players playing as a unit.
Melo comes back and they start losing, team divides, and D'Antoni resigns.
Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see who is to blame here.

Amare + Carmelo on the floor = turrible D.

Trade one or both, hire a coach that has some defensive skill and they can turn it around easy.

Both D'antoni and Melo are both to blame equally, difference is, it's astronomically easier to get rid of the coach than the supposed 'superstar' player they traded a goldmine for.

Melo has an impact but it goes deeper. They suck defensively, which includes Stoudemire.

This happened because of Carmelo

He said in the NY press today that he wanted a trade or D'Antoni fired, they probably opted to keep Melo and asked D'antoni to work with him and he was like - fuck this, I'm out

I've been saying they should get rid of D'Antoni for a year now, so I think this is a step in the right direction. The guy's a terrific offensive coach, but he's not great at coaching defense, and that's a major liability in the NBA. That said, the problems right now are that the Knicks superstars are playing like liquid shit. Amar'e is having a terrible season by any metric, and Carmelo makes the offense SUCK. Neither one is good on defense. The team is in shambles, and it's more the fault of Carmelo than D'Antoni at this point (as evidenced by Lin stepping in and working perfectly in the D'Antoni system while Amar'e and Melo were out).

That story is complete BS, can't believe you even quoted it, lol.

I would have gotten out of that cesspool sooner.

He had the team playing great last year before it was gutted for that piece of junk from Denver. He'll be coaching again very soon.

Pipe dream: U of I, throw money at him? Please?

I think Joe Johnson might be even worse because at least Amar'e is big. Not that the Hawks have any interest in trading Johnson, of course... but that's one bloated contract.

Oh that's true... the issue with Amare is apparently there's no insurance on it, so if something happens with his knee or eye, then the team is on the hook for it still.

Jerry Sloan would be a nice fit if he could smack Melo back to reality. But if Deron was too diva for him, not sure he would want to come out of retirement to deal with Melo
