NBA: Japanese PG Yuta Tabuse on the Phoenix Suns

there was that Chinese PG that played w/ the Kings during pre-season. I think he got cut though.

this is good 🙂 we don't have any true PG's in the NBA since Stockton. He does seem a bit small though.

hehe, "College: BYU-Hawaii '02"...seems that he isn't a true import. Ah well...that's cool, I didn't even know about him!

i hope the Suns cut him and the Pistons pick him up 😀

besides being cool to root for, we could use some depth at PG.

hehe, then I could go to a game, support my local championship team AND support APAs in the NBA!

excellent. Does he still have his fobish haircut?

He was a crowd pleaser at last weeks Clippers final preseason home game. Haven't checked the stats, but he looked about 5'8" or so?

he's 5'9 165 lbs

This is really a first, seeing an asian point guard in the NBA
I always thought I was going to be the first one 😉

I'm going to follow this player, the phoenix suns made extremely good trades during the off season, they look really good

He's not the first japanese player to play in the NBA. First japanese-born player, yes.

Wataru "Wat" Misaka
Article about being the first NBA minority

Wat Misaka played for the New York Knicks in 1947. he was not only the first asian in the NBA, but he was the first minority in the NBA, even before the first black player. I know Wat Misaka only played a few games for the Knicks, but he broke the color barrier for the NBA and I thought this should be acknowledged.

Hmmm... is he the same japanese player that played in the pre-season last year? I can't remember for what team though... All I remember is that he was japanese and he went to Hawaii....

cool, thanks for the info

I'm not saying they were NBA or even Div 1 caliber but I've played BB with some short Japanese guys (5'8") that were very good and could dunk. You should have seen the looks on some of the opponents faces when these two short Japanese guys slashed through and dunked on them.
