My Abit Kv8's northbridge chipset cooling fan died, and it doesn't have any heatsink (just a spreader and the fan) so it is, of course, overheating.

Can this be replaced from a general retailer(Newegg, ZZF, etc.) or do I need the specific part from Abit? IE will a NB heatsink (such as This one) work?

you can use any hsf you want by just sticking it on with Artic Silver epoxy
a TINY TINY dab will really lock it on, and the epoxy also heat transfers like the regular

I used to use Pentium (200mhz) aftermarket HAF found at Fry's - if it fts in mobo space
