Customer "can not open the pdf files" never heard of adobe acrobat? My grandmother knows adobe acrobat, my mothers oldest sister (who lives on a farm right out of green acres) can send us digital pictures, and this guy who runs the biggest shoe store chain in the area (that isn't national) cant view pdf's
 
hmm i'm just the IT. we dont trust our artists to attach files to emails (well our systems usually dont take kindly to it) also we have a lotus system that we get charged for attaching emails, soon we'll be switching, but my boss is just not to trustworthy of the inept fools, so we handle the out going and incoming attachents, maybe 5 a day. . that way we catch virus's incoming. but the guy at the shoe store is goober, i guess.
 
I've sent people *.tif files and they said that they couldn't open it. Some people just don't know much about computers and software.

 
guy just emailed me back, coplained that something wsnt ceneterd, when i convert the pdf to eps to jpg, i dunno what happens, but also. he says he wants a copy of every file i send to the other papers we send it to for him, but if i cant send him a pdf how can i send him a copy to see what they are recieving
 
Well let me ask you this. Have you always known what a pdf file was? No probably not. You needed somebody to tell you what it was or you looked it up yourself. So what's the big deal if this guy doesn't know. Now he does.
 
he knows, i'm just anoyed at ahving to do 5 more steps, plus if he doesnt like the ad, and we have to change 2 versions of it, and run them by him

Exactly. I could name 10,000+ computer related things ArkAoss has no clue about. Does this mean I gloat about it and laugh at him? No.

There's a difference between stupidity and simply not knowing something. Everyone has to start somewhere, and some things are less important to certain people.

Now, if this guy claimed he was a computer guru or a programmer, or touted his MCSE status, then you'd have a valid complaint. He seems like a guy who runs a shoe store..

hmm you're right nd, i shouldn't complain about such a stupid thing, and you're probly right i prbly could learn 10.000 things from you, like how to get wint nt's bootini to point to an os on a seprate hard drive, or to an os like 6-8 partitions deep on the same drive. .
 
What was that ArkAoss? Was that sarcasm? Was that like initiating a dork duel? NT boxes at 15 paces at dawn? 😉

I don't know if I can teach you 10,000 things about computers, but I could show you a thing or two about grammar and spelling. 😉
 
no its not a duel, i posted a thread asking abouut that. then it got moved to os's and now its been moved to tech support, so i need that problem solved , can you help me?

If all else fails with the NT boot manager, you can always point to a copy of the partition's boot sector on the local drive (C: )

This is what I did to boot Linux from an NT boot manager.. I used a utility (dd) to copy the Linux partition's boot sector and put it on the root NTFS partition. You can then point to that file in BOOT.INI and it would boot Linux. The same concept could be applied to any OS.
 
🙂 Nevermind, I thought you were being sarcastic and telling nd that you could teach him about those things. I thought it would be funny to see the two of you duke it out over who possesses the greater knowledge of NT systems, etc, etc.

Nah, I don't like to participate in pissing contests anyways... it's a waste of time unless you really need to prove a point.

Besides, I only use NT at work nowadays.. and don't have Windows on any of my boxes at home so I don't keep up with that much.
 
yeah same here, im trying to get it to work at home and thought people here could help, but the mods have moved the thread 2 times, and lost a post!!
