Navy Test (Good Pics)

Around this time last year I went up in a Boeing 707 that had been modified for airborne refuelling (Story). I took these pics with a Kodak DC280(2MP). The shots of the 707 are from someone elses 5MP camera. The pics include an F-14 and F-18 as well as a S-3B doing a bit of showboating. I'll upload the full-res pics if anyone wants them.

Cool pics! Thanks for sharing. It was neat that you had your camera w/you and were able to get the pics. 🙂

umm you pic of a F-14 and F-18 is actually 2 tomcats, no hornet in the pair.
I wrote at the time that it was a F-18/D, but I'll check on that.

nice pics! Especially the 2 landings.
Actually someone else took the photos of the landings. I only took the ones from inside the plane.

When you said "707 that had been modified for airborne refueling" I thought you just couldn't come up with "KC-135" But reading the story, that's not it at all!

Interesting, but frankly, I have my doubts about using civilian flight crews in direct combat support missions of that type. Would probably be OK for the type of very localized regional conflicts we're having at this time. Easy enough to keep them out of harms way for the most part, although there are weather issues & such that you can order a military pilot to fly in, but maybe not a civilian crew. But in a much larger conflict, they could be at much higher risk.

Anyway, cool pics.
I got a ride in a KC-135 once. They refueled a couple of C-141. Was very cool, couldn't belive how much those airplanes (141s) flex. The wings were just flapping, fuselage bending, etc. Amazing.
