Oh God. Really, who the f cares what is on a bomb?

Maybe the people who are bitching should try putting their lives on the line every single day. I bet they will find a whole lot more important things to bitch about...

I agree.. it wasn't used in that context... so why should the issue an apology...

Although it wasn't right... it was geared towards.. the terrorist supporting afghans...

Also, I'm sure the people complaining about it also were complaining that the ink was a non-biodegradable type, and that we didn't say "excuse me" before dropping the bombs, and that we are dropping them in the first place, and so on...

Don't these fools understand that these terrorists are TRYING TO KILL THEM?

Grr...

Fine... Can we just strap her to one of the bombs instead of writing on it and drop her over there? She seems to like them so much... :|

Well, I do see the difference and possible need for an apology. It wasn't a gourp of fags that killed all those people, why would we blame them for it and write that on the bomb? We say that we are a society that is great and wonderful, we should try to actually do it. Though I agree that people need thicker skins... a lot thicker skins...

<< fagot \i love you"ot\n. [F., prob. aug. of L. fax, facis, torch, perh. orig., a bundle of sticks; cf. Gr. ??????? bundle, fagot. Cf. Fagotto.] 1. A bundle of sticks, twigs, or small branches of trees, used for fuel, for raising batteries, filling ditches, or other purposes in fortification; a fascine. --Shak. >>

One definition for fagot (or lovely human) is a bundle of sticks used for fuel for a fire.

That seems like a perfectly appropriate description of the Afghanis we're bombing.

An anti-gay slur written on one of the bombs used in the strikes on Afghanistan was inappropriate and commanders have been directed to prevent similar incidents, a top Navy official said. --I think what was inappropriate was that this picture was not censored before it was shown on yahoo/news...if you remember there was even a little disclaimer saying that the navy may have reviewed it!

Maybe the people who are bitching should try putting their lives on the line every single day. I bet they will find a whole lot more important things to bitch about... --didn't we learn from the terrorist attacks that everyone that goes to work in the morning is putting their life on the life? By the way, more civilians have died during this 'war' than troops. That argument about not having a right to complain because a person is not in the armed forces is getting old...let it die!

Also, I'm sure the people complaining about it also were complaining that the ink was a non-biodegradable type, and that we didn't say "excuse me" before dropping the bombs, and that we are dropping them in the first place, and so on...--or perhaps they are just normal americans that are sensitive to language that is offensive to a part of our population?

like i said, I could care less that what they write. it was wrong to publish that picture as an example of the navy tradition.

No, you don't understand... The term fags here isn't being used to refer to gays, it has a different meaning to the Taliban, it is an insult to them, just a tragic mistake that it also is an insult to gays...

Sadly, our homosexual population is so jumpy even this isn't allowed...

I knew this was coming as soon as I saw the photo.

From CNN:
"Under increased pressure from The Human Rights Campaign, the Navy also
announced that they would be sending a team of Navy Seals into Afghanistan
to recover the bomb, erase the "anti-gay slur", and replace it with something
more appropriate such as "fu%kers", or the more politically correct "bad people".
Elizabeth Birch, executive director of Human Rights Campaign, said in a statement
that "we are deeply concerned that homosexual Afghans, attempting the highjack
the bomb, mid-flight, might be offended."

To prevent such an offense from happening again, the Navy has scrambled human
rights committees to every air craft carrier in the Arabian Sea to inspect all
aircraft munitions before takeoff for anything potentially offensive."

At least they're not complaining that these bombs, just might be used to kill people.

They just need to throw the photographers overboard for getting them in hot water.... That reporter KNEW this would happen and wanted to start a Left wing outcry.

My thoughts exactly ;)

BTW, someone should put up a link to the old thread so we don't all have to repeat what we said last time. As for the apology, I agree that it was something they had to do for image sake...And of course, if I was guy who wrote it, it's definitely not something worth protesting.

Of course they owe anapology, and I'm glad they fessed up. Saying something like that is like saying the US government endorses the hate of people who are different, and that's totally against what the US stands for.

Ha ha. Like hell would they stay on a ship for 6 months at a time.

I don't really see a need for an apology

The need arises from people being offended...you saw how crazy people in that other thread were getting...I totally think it's stupid though

That's such a sweet thing to say :) I'd make you my girlfriend but I'm guessing you're already someone else's

Hey, not funny. With today's technology it can all be done from a central location, the media.
Whoops, it is. Makes you wonder if we all aren't becoming more and more communist every day. You know, with a party member around to make sure we all stay politically correct. Some folks seem to want the government in everything and then keep religion out of the government, i.e. everything. Not too far from the way things are in China.

The guy (or people) that wrote it definitely could have used a more tactful insult but I don't see why anyone but the person that wrote it would need to apologize.
