I've been using PHP MyAdmin for years as a general interface for my MySQL databases. I'm sure most of you are familiar with this program and it has been a great noob friendly software for managing MySQL databases.

Recently, I started using the MySQL Query Browser, also a terrific free program available from the MySQL developers. I like using the Query Browser but wanted something that offered a little more in the way of canned queries to make managing the database a little easier, without having to write so much SQL to do simple tasks.

Well, in my search I ran across Navicat and decided to give their trial version a go. This program is fantastic. Offers all the ease of use of PHP MyAdmin, and has countless other features PHP MyAdmin doesn't have. And it's very fast. One of the reasons I have been steering away from PHP MyAdmin is that these days it seems very sluggish, and Navicat really does a great job all around.

Anyway, just thought I'd recommend it to those who hadn't heard of this program. It's not free (except for the 30 day trial) but if you're managing a MySQL DB, currently using PHP MyAdmin and what you're doing is worth plunking a few dollars down on something better, this is a terrific program.

Can it handle multiple mysql servers?

How does it do with REALLY large tables (lots of columns, LOTS of rows)?

Whats it do that phpmyadmin doesn't?

Yeah, you can be connected with several servers. Not sure if there is a limit, but it doesn't seem like it. You can also connect via SSL or SSH.

Don't know about really large tables (not currently using it with anything you would consider really large) but I don't know why there should be a performance problem.

Too much to describe here. Check out the trial and you'll see.

seems fast, but switching from data to structure isn't quick/easy enough

also, seems like i can't open more than one table at a time

Double click for data, right click then select "Design" for structure.

Go to options, general. Select use docking. I prefer dock open windows to main window. Yay, tabs!

I'll check out MySQL Front but so far I'm very pleased with Navicat.

Hmm... this is what I found:

MySQL-Front has been discontinued since MySQL AB forced us to remove this program from the market.

Thanks a lot for all your help!
