BRUSSELS, Belgium -- In a strong show of support, Washington's NATO allies declared today that the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington can be considered an attack on the whole alliance if it turns out they were directed from abroad.

The United States got the backing for any military action from its 18 NATO partners if it is determined that Tuesday's attacks were committed by foreigners, NATO Secretary-General Lord Robertson said.

In that case, Robertson said, the United States can invoke NATO's one-for-all and all-for-one principle and count on the support of its allies to mount a military operation.

It's about time we get something back (after all we've given Nato in terms of military support). Someone's going down hard!

I think they realize that they must stand with us in any attack we initiate angainst the perpetrators, who ever they may be. Otherwise, they may find themselves the target of attacks as well.

<< What terrorists dont realize is that this is having the opposite effect on America. We dont dwell on our terror. We draw closer together and grow angrier at their actions >>

It may be what they wanted. Do you really understand the minds of people that just kill themselves like that? I don't.

Japan underestimated the United States in World War II. They thought by attacking Pearl Harbor that America would not have the resolve to fight a protracted war. They were wrong.

The terrorists are just as wrong.

If this originated in Afghanistan you can add Russia onto our side also. They have a few debts to settle there.

That is exactly the way it should be. America got hit this time, but it could be repeated anywhere. With NATO showing their support, we send a message to terrorists that we will not tolerate these kinds of actions and consequences will be fierce and violent, with the man power needed to carry out whatever is necessary to get the job done. Seeing this unity makes me proud.

I personally think WWIII would be, like the name says, a World War, meaning the world against another part of the world. This is simply the WHOLE WORLD (or major powers) against the MINUTE countries that stand with afghanistan...
this isn't world war, it's world massacre...
