I have been searching for the source of this problem for some time now, and I just can't seem to find the source... just too many variables...
My laptop specs:
Dell Inspiron 6000
ATI Radeon x300
Intel Mobility Chipset
I'm running dual boot Gentoo Linux and Windows XP Pro with Grub as my bootloader.
The Problem: In Windows, I have my power settings set to "Do Nothing" when I close the screen of my laptop, so that when I close the screen, the screen shuts off, but it doesn't standby or turn off the laptop. Recently, the screen stopped shutting off when I close the laptop.
What, in Windows, controls this? Or is it native to the hardware?
