I know it wasn't a fair fight.. but my roommates and I were recently discussing the Native American technology level and realized we didn't really know any hard facts beyond what we could remember from like 3rd grade.

What was the technology level ? Stone Age? Copper Age? Some sort of mix?

Wasn't it just stone age? Didn't they use rocks for arrow heads and such? I don't think they had the ability to melt down and forge metals.

I could be totally wrong though.

Northern American Indians: They knew how to extract and use a lot of metals, but they didn't need most of it. They were quite advanced in the use of natural medicines.

Incas/Aztec: They never discovered the wheel, but were quite far advanced in other parts, among which architecture, agriculture and irrigational systems.

But due to the limited number of huge wars they had not focussed as much on making 'better' weaponry as us Europeans had.
