Nationwide Wireless Internet Access

Does anyone have a list or know of any companies who do Nationwide Wireless Access for businesses? I'm looking to be able to use a laptop basically anywhere in the USA (atleast major cities) using some sort of wirless/sat access.

Thanks and much appreciated.

T-Mobile will give you unlimited GPRS internet for $29.99/month (without a voice plan), or $19.99/month (with a voice plan)

You can pick up a Nokia 3650 with bluetooth at Amazon.com right now for free (after rebate). Bluetooth allows the cell phone to connect a Bluetooth-enabled laptop to the web without the use of a cable.

GPRS is about the speed of a 56K modem, FYI.

Good luck!

SprintPCS. Faster then any of GPRS providers. 3G CDMA is the way of the future, not EDGE.

what is the 3g part? I know CDMA is code division multiple access.

3rd generation of the technology; 1xRTT.

i am testing the Redwing CDMA Wireless Modem with sprint 3G service

i really like it, not super fast like cable/DSL , but NO WIRE! and it connects fast. they also have PC Card versions for laptops

i have no idea of the availablity of the service, i think they are still testing the devices that will be offered or something, but it works anywhere SpringPCS has coverage

the speed i get in testing is usually about 50-70Kbps which is what they tell you

When I was using Sprint Vision late last year, the network was either out/unavailable, or just dog slow.

Hopefully they've gotten their bugs fixed.

It is a lot more reliable now. I've only been using is since last November and have noticed quite an improvement.

I personally have had it up to here with AT&T; even though I am on their "national one-rate" plan I can't send text messages while I'm roaming. I am honestly considering switching companies if they will not enable me to do that. I pay for the same service no matter what part of the country I am in and I had damn well bettter get what I'm paying for.

Ok guys, I've narrowed it down to a few providers.

Tmobile SUCKS for what it is. They told me 56k or lower speeds. It's cheap at 19.99 a month, but that is just too little bandwidth for our company.

Verizon and Sprint PCS go up to 144kbps, but average about 60/70kbps. Both of their plans are $79.99 and $80.00 respectively. These seem like the best plans and speeds that I can find. Does anyone else have suggestions?

Also I want everyones opinion on Verizon and Sprint's service and uptime. Since this is for a corporate sales team it needs to be reliable.

Do either one of these companies offer a dial-up if said service is down? If no one knows I'll call and ask, not a big deal.

Thanks again guys and keep the ideas coming!

I have Verizon's Express Netork with my cell phone. I use with my lappy when I'm out of town. It's cool because it just uses my minutes on my cell plan. So nights and weekend are unlimited.

Can someone tell me how this works with their cellphone ? How do you get the wireless cell connection to the laptop ?

You use an Aircard. It's a wifi type wireless card that can pick up the signal from the towers.

Card seen here

That card is for verizon networks. Look at the very last image on the page.

Sprint uses the "PCS Connection Card" which is probably similar.
