Why would throw attitude at a local SFPD? A Lot of cops here were right with us some even were singing along as they marched with us. It's when they bring in the east bay riot-cop reserves when things can get ugly.
The march and rally was really cool everyone was friendly.
like I said a lot of people talking about he same stuff we do in here.
Hanging out marching and telling bush off in a time when we never are represented unless we get out in the streets. Good times.

I find it ironic that Bush will most likely go down in history as one of the countries most decisive leaders, right up there with Lincoln and FDR, and defiantly more so than Clinton.

imho he has served this country well. His policies while being easy to criticize will have been a catalyst for change for an entire region. Changed from non tolerant regimes to reality checked governments trying to decide if they dare challenge the change that is coming in the free and open societies of Iraq and Afghanistan. His appointments while facing the cries of conspiracies, corruption and collusion will have been of individuals and entities the President knows can get the job done. He?s not one to put up with mucking around.

When your old and telling your grandkids about your 'rallies and marches' you?ll look back on how you were blasting the President that headed off an oncoming dark age of Islamic isolation and increased hatred towards anyone other than.

Generally speaking the overriding psychological foundation -whether they know it or not- guiding most of the rabid anti-war crowd is self-hate. This necessarily leads to the hating of all existence and man, and their arguments and positions continually expose this anti-man behavior. Many will deny this... although some will grudgingly admit they see the universe as helpless and doomed and man as ugly and stupid... and a few will honestly pronounce their loathing for human beings (like extreme left-wing environmentalists). Think of it as a severe but secular form of Original Sin.

If a person holds certain wrong ideas on fundamental philosophic issues then a rational view of man and reality will be undercut. This may even be subliminal... many people have arrived at their basic understandings through a subconscience default with a motley collection of random whims, premises, feelings, and principles. The bottom line though is that most of these anti-war characters have placed other concepts above the notion that man's life is the core value, and that which supports it is the good, and that which negates it is evil. This is why those "protesters" can look at communism or Iraqi insurgents or any number of depraved people and systems and forgive them... while at the same time damning the most spectacular and moral mechanism this world has ever known to achieving life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This is why such people can protest events that Iraqis have been desperately waiting for and are happy about, events that can and will lead to fundamental structural changes throughout the world for years to come, and events that spread western universals and make this world a better place. Because at its essence, the success of man and the ideas that propel him are a critical threat to these people's worldview... and that is why the "protesters" will rationalize any way possible their attempts to keep man in pain and misery.

So yes, GENERALLY SPEAKING, most are feeding their hate and perpetuating their anti-American sentiment. It should be fun to watch the circus though... they make such good clowns :)

Wow, war is the ultimate expression of good. You have been hanging out in Oceania and with INGSOC too long.

War is Peace
Ignorance is strength.

Well, you are two thirds there.

War is NOT the ultimate expression of good. However, violence is as part of reality as love or gravity. It is what it is... so we can shirk our responsibilities and wimper about uncivilized behavior, OR, we can realize that violence is contextual and can be used for evil AND noble ends. Violence -or war- can and should be used when deemed necessary to protect, promote, and defend our values and interests... because our values and interests are worth dying for. The day we decide they are not is the day America will be overtaken by those who believe their ways ARE worth it.

If and when every nation and group on earth becomes pacifist, then I happily shall also ;)

I dunno about pacifist but the world has layed down their arms mostly.
Except the fear of the US who is only modern reason for building up weapons.
IF the us minded it's own buisness and stepped down the bloated cold war mess the world would breathe a lot easier.
I guess reality show and foxnews watchers like america being the redeck yee-haw hillybilly agressor in the world.
World leaders need to just whip it out, compare and end it for once.

Here is a observation I found on the net.

What I can share is that there were about 20 freepers from http://www.protestwarrior.com /. They were joined by a small group of pro-Israel folks.

As we were leaving the Civic Center, there was a row of cops (almost more cops than righties) that were holding a line between the freeps and the lefties. According to a cop I spoke to, apparently there was one guy among the freepers that was "further over the top, just by himself, than the thousands of protesters across the street". The lineup of cops had apparently been drawn between opposing forces to prevent a confrontation. Dang, I so wanted to give a couple of those guys a good whooping.

Also, about 3:30 a breakway group of Black Bloc members left the gathering. We were walking toward our car (way over by Dolores Park) and at every corner we turned, it seemed we encountered the breakway and their pursuing cops. It was really funny because the cops were all on motorcycles and in vehicles, but the Black Bloc was swift and mobile. We were laughing that they really had the cops on the run.

About 3/4 hour into the breakway, the Bloc found themselves pinned down in the middle of a block heading out toward Portrero. They quickly reversed course and we actually saw cops laughing because they simply could not keep up. Finally, about 6 kids locked down hard in the middle of the intersection, and stayed there until they were arrested. A large group of people on all 4 corners stood watched, providing verbal support and lots of cameras to keep things well-observed and recorded. I got a lot of shots myself.

The arrests were all pretty peaceful, and those who were hauled off were absolutely given a chance to stand up and walk away. All preferred to sit with arms locked around each other, and forced the arrest situation.

UPDATE: Everyone are alredy released noone is in jail and they are throwing a big party at the park 2 blocks up from the house..laters I'm out for awhile.

I suspect there would be more fear if we reduced out consumption of imported goods..................

Iraq needs self determination not another US puppet regime and more genocide.

You always miss an important point, Rot: People who have been OPPRESSED have to *LEARN* how to be free and self-determined. You people ALWAYS like to scream about self-determination for these abused countries, yet you neglect the fact that in many cases, Iraq included, that when the people TRIED to overthrow the oppressors they were SALUGHTERED. You forget, also, that psychology people are more likely to STAY in a painful situation they loathe because it is *FAMILIAR* and *COMFORTABLE* than they are to act to change that situation on their own.

Then, I suppose you'd argue that women in abusive relationships should put up with it rather than let the police intervene? After all, if they didn't CHOOSE to run away from the abuse, they have every right to suffer it, right?

Look at those scmucks with their little signs and child-like actions. Pathetic.

What is their point anyway? Leave Iraq and let the terrorists take over? Leave Iraq and surrender to the terrorists? Oh I bet some of those radical-leftist clowns in those protests would love to see the day America surrenders to the terrorists. Trust me, the radical leftists I have encountered at the University and elsewhere are the most hateful people in the world.

Do they not have compassion for the 25 million Iraqis? Certainly, if we leave now, who will protect Iraq?

These peaceniks will certainly fly over to Iraq and provide safety to the Iraqis, I'm sure. I'm sure these peaceniks will put fear into the heart of terrorists worldwide!

And by the time the anarchist black blockers broke off and blocked traffic.
UPDATE they anarchists hae blocked off the freeways coming into the city and are sitting down and telling the cops to f-off 13 arrested so far.
Suburban news in a uproar people precious autos are at a standstill

UPDATE: hundreds of snotty lunitics with nose-rings were arrested for disorderly conduct and destruction and looting of property.

Seriously, how can you support blocking traffic? What if a ambulence has to go to a emergency and some snotty peaceniks with purple hair and nose rings block it?

You people are disgusting.

And telling cops to f-off is not the best thing for PR, I should add. Cops protect you and me, they don't care if your a law abiding citizen or some punk shouting obscenties at our military. They protect everyone.

Its called black blocking and it was the cops who were provoking violence luckily noone got hurt.

You know, anarchists, and causing havok, oh I forgot you live in a Iowa suburb a broken traffic light is news to you. ;)

Again, cops REACT to provocations. They are taught that during training and unlike these idiot protestors, they follow the law and respect it.

the cops instigate the violence at EVERY event I have been to I have witnessed it firsthand.
You get uninformed suburbanites with nightsticks and a attitude. = Violence, these sick whackos crave it. It shows on here every day.

I'm sure at each of those events, the punks with the green hair and nose-rings instigated the reaction. In a situation in which the protestors do something that might endanger the safety of others, cops have to use every means possible to control the situation and not let it grow out of hand. Remember, its only a few cops against tens of thousands of people. They cannot take any chances. It's a matter of life and death.

You already have a bias against cops, so of course you believe they were wrong.

Smacking these unruly protestors so they don't hurt themselves or others is something that is necessary sometimes. It's the protestors who are the whackos, not cops, you cop hater.

You have got it all wrong IMO.

ok, so 5,500 decided not to go, then that means the rest decided to go. what's the problem?

If you don't see the problem in this then you are pulling my chain :cookie:

So 5,500 out of 140,000 decided not to go. So you're saying if that 4% decides not to go, we should take that as a sign not to go at all? What about the other 96% who DID decide to go? I take it their choice is irrelevant?

Of course it is, you only count the FEW who agree with you as real people.

These people are not going to be the same when they come home
Iraq will never be the same. If we as citizens do not speak out then we are tossing their lives aside.
Not one more has to die for bush's imperialism.

5500=roughly 4% of soldiers currently IN Iraq. If you count the 450,000 who HAVE gone too, you're looking at closer to 1%. So yes, 5500 *IS* a few, and a very small, marginal, MINORITY few at that.

It is lost tvland viewers like you that need a wake up call.
wake up lemming!

Sure, that's why there were so many out there including some little bush shills (protestwarriors)
THe whole downtown is shut down by anarchists and I am dog tired.
A exellent event and good to see solidarity from thousands in one place against bush's imperialism.
Change shall come if only more take direct action.

So disrupting people's daily lives is a compassionate thing to do? Shouting out hateful things that are absolutely meaningless prove anything? You anti-war protestors are the biggest POS's ever. You don't care about the people you trample upon and the outrageous way you conduct yourself. Ever think how these so-called anti-war protests affect the troops in Iraq?

They are taught that during training and unlike these idiot protestors, they follow the law and respect it.

please, your tired goverment propaganda could come from where else then talk radio or tv news.
Noone informed could be as lost as you. You sound just like a fear-obsessed white suburbanite who has lost his individual thought in your complacency.
Do you really believe that stuff or are you just trolling?

pleease, not everyone is a sheep like you. people actually come up with their *own* thoughts and opinions. I understand its a novel concept. surbanbite? Uhh, so why should I live in a city when I have the choice to live in a nice quite neighborhood? *shakes head*

what is trolling? You've been trolling through your own thread.

go destroy some more property and then complain when the cop smacks you

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

Sounds like a Ghandi quote. I don't know how that applies in this case though.

These protestors are in no way similar to Ghandi.

hmm methinks you and a lot of cops should be the ones fighting this war you love so much.
freedom is as lost to you RD as your concept of a free society.
