National Treasure was awesome

Just came back from the theater. If you are into conspiracy theories or just want to have some fun, National Treasure is a blast. Sure, the story is totally implausable, but it's still a great time.

Go. Watch it. Now.

I was thinking I really wanted ot see just for the cheese factor--that is--until they started hyping it on the Disney channel during sat. morning kids shows. [My daughter watches the shows; I monitor what she watchtes]. After that I felt like it probably wasn't a movie targeted / meant for me. Still, I'll likely check it out when it hits video.

Quote from a guy i know...

"every time i see that tv spot for national treasure with that part where nic cage says "the dollar bill is trying to tell my something," all i can think is "yeah, it's telling you 'please don't waste me on this awful movie.'"

National Treasure WAS awesome. I went into that movie thinking Nicholas Cage is a crappy actor and an ignorant fvck. I thought the trailers made it look retarded and I went mainly to make fun of the holes in the plot..

Instead, I got a captivating action/thriller that kept me at the edge of my seat and my brain was actually working to try to figure things out as the movie unfolded. It wasn't say.. the smartest movie I ever saw, but it was smart enough that a smart person could enjoy it.

Seeing good movies like this get extra super horribly bad reviews by all the main critics while all my friends love it (think Equilibrium) keeps me believing that the critics are just owned and controlled by the companies that pay them, that also happen to own the media companies that made the movies..

For this movie, read user reviews. The critics are all douchebags. This is a good movie.

I've heard it likened to "The DaVinci Code". Implausible story, but entertaining nonetheless. Although I think National Treasure won't have the fundies in a tizzy quite like TDC.

This was a cool movie. It ought to be very satisfying for anyone who likes adventure/suspense/find the lost treasure type of stuff.

Anyone here read Foucault's Pendulum?

It's about a bunch of wanky intellectuals who work for a publisher who specializes in this conspiracy crap.

They decide (drunkenly) to build the perfect conspiracy theory, just for patronizing sh1ts and giggles.

And they end up being right (sort of).

Great novel.

Friend of mine sent that to me years ago when she and I used to exchange packages of books, comics, et cetera. Recommended for people that think The Da Vinci Code was a good book. Might be over their heads though.

It looks good- like a modern day Indiana Jones. Our stupid local newpaper reviewer has a taste for moves that is completely opposite of everyone else and said it stunk (*1/2 stars- he also gave the Incredibles 2 stars.) I can't believe they keep that guy around :|

Anyway, might go see it in the next couple of weeks. Too many good movies out right now. Going to hit SpongeBob with the kids tonight 😀

We were going to go see it but got invited to dinner instead so we'll have to go see it later. I thought it just looked like TOmb Raider with Cage isntead of Jolie. But I think it looks neat. There's a 10 minute teaser out there too if anyone hasn't see it yet. Shows the scene where Cage and the blond guy part ways.

I watched the making of and it finally signalled to me that Nicholas Cage has no acting abilities whatsoever. I found the dollar bill to be more enthralling and Stephen Hawking to be more emotional.

I can't believe anyone would be willing to publicly say that they liked this movie. It was absolutely the worst movie I have seen in a decade.

lol i don't think i could agree with you more. i personally think nicholas cage is a horrible actor, and his movies typically are very corny due to his poor acting skills. however, this movie was friggin AWESOME! i loved it. i saw it because my gf and I wanted to see a movie and it was the only one out. and boy was i suprised at how good it was!

cage still is pretty corny in this one with some of his dialogues, but in the end, this movie just rocks.

it was WWAAYY better than I expected.

Certainly puts you in the minority here it seems.

I personally have not been on the edge of my seat for a movie as I was with this one in a long time..

It was definitely entertaining. I might would watch it again.

Mwidling, you must not have seen nearly as many movies as I have in the past decade..it is far from the worst I have seen.

I just got around to seeing it.... great movie (wish I had gone sooner to see it).... I actually enjoyed this mroe than any of the indiana jones' movies.... I think having the story have to do with american history made it better in my eye. Still A+ movie and one of the better ones of the year.
