Got a letter saying I was selected to The National Dean's List. Now is this thing a crock like Who's Who?

I thought it was, but the univ. of utah specifically asked about it on their application for presidential scholar.

I was going to ask the same thing yesterday. I got one of these letters in the mail too.

Is it worth filling out? I figure for the 37c, it can't hurt.

Do some googling but my guess is they just want to sell you a book and certificate, like most of the Who's Who scams.

As an undergrad I was inducted into an honor society (with annual dues I've never bothered to pay) and listed in Who's Who in College Students or something like that, based entirely on my GPA.

I didn't apply to either and as far as I know they had no other basis for choosing me besides harvesting me from the school's records (Dean's list I'd guess).

yeah, it's like Who's Who. I got a letter from the National Dean's list, didn't bother to reply.

I got a National Dean's list thing when I graduated college. I overwatered one of my plants and it soaked the envelope. I threw it away and neve really worried about it.

I signed up for it too, but I didn't really believe it was important at all. Just did it to do it.

The thing with Who's Who is it's not designed to be a end all be all for the most intellegent...just a listing of those that are pretty much capable. People tend to get underwhelmed since they see their friends listed as well...but chances are the 'friends' are in the same classes and about the same level...it's the way it goes.

Still out of everyone in Who's Who, there would be an entire encyclopedia on those that are not.

My friend who had a .6 for his first semester GPA got a Who's Who letter. I never got one until last year 🙁
