The tree started growing in French soil before the United States made the Louisiana Purchase. Before its fall in April, 2003, it resided in Cleveland County in the State of Arkansas. The tree measured 60 inches DBH (diameter at breast height ? 4.5 feet above the ground) and was 140 feet tall. It was 65 feet to the first limb.

Big trees rule.

The largest Sitka Spruce in the world is at Lake Quinalt in Washington State.

It is 58 feet in diameter, and around 1,000 years old. :Q

You sure that is 58 feet in diameter and not 58 feet in circumference?
Yeah, my bad. You're right.

It's 191 feet tall. :)

DASM:Q That is huge!

We had to have 5 Torre Pines removed in a very congested neighborhood in San Diego. They were 120-135+ feet tall. If they fell in any direction they would have taken out at least one house or garage with the possibility of multiple build squash happening. The lumberjack and crane operator made every penny they asked for that day.

Indeed. :Q

The tallest tree in the world is some 368 feet, called the Stratosphere Tree.. There are a few around that tall, all giant redwoods.

I hope they aren't in the U.S.!!!! Bush is now going to allow some logging in the Redwood and Sequoia national parks along with many wilderness areas. :(:|:|:|
