I'm not a fan of Nathan's either, their spice blend is not to my tastes. Ballpark all-beef (the regular ones, not the Angus) are my go-to for cheap, mass produced wieners. They're much better than any of the pork/beef/chicken blends from other major brands.
I used to tolerate Costco beef dogs though I wasn't a big fan. Their spice blend, like Nathan's, is off. But ever since I got covid I can't stomach them at all. Not sure if it's related to my temporary loss of taste but they taste different now and they're horrible. I doubt it's virus related as no other food I've consumed since recovering still tastes off like those wieners do.
Worst wiener I've ever gobbled was a brisket dog. I think it was made by a local company (Flocchini) though I may be misremembering. Whoever made it should be ashamed of themselves and have their meat tube production privileges revoked. The taste and spices were just foul and it had several big chunks of gristle in it. I took just 2 or 3 bites and threw them all away. A shame, too, cuz they were the big "dinner-style" or whatever dogs (like, 1/4# each) and fairly expensive ($8 for 4).
