NAT/xbox trouble

Those ports look odd to me. Try adding UDP - 88. If that doesn't work, check into setting a static IP and assigning DMZ to that IP.

just added 'name4' with UDP as the option and the opening port 88 with the ending port 88. is that right? just tried BO again and NAT is still strict.

i don't know dick about networking.

Honestly I'd do as peritus suggested and giving the xbox an IP and putting it on the DMZ. This has worked perfectly for me and others.

fuck netgear products.

I suspect this is your problem personally. I was having a lot of problems at my parents house with their netgear router. Had issued with the xbox, connecting to steam games, and anything over 2 connected devices would ruin the network. I went to office depot and bought the linksys N router on sale for $40 and all problems went away without any forwarding at all.

Hah... my experience is the opposite of gocorps. I've got a Netgear router at home and have zero issues. UPnP took care of basically everything. Every Linksys router I've ever used has been shit. Only flashing them with 3rd party firmware made them moderately useful.

OK, obvious question here, though hopefully not insulting... are you sure you're forwarding to the correct IP? And a related question... have you set your 360's IP to static or set up a DHCP reservation (my preferred method)?

alright i used the port forward program off the link in the OP to make it static. copied my IP address and followed these instructions here:

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...tpy7Dw&usg=AFQjCNGnSDFSqalGtuu-o9pTxwPvgY1j3A

went to hit apply and it said: (192.168......) is managing this device.

lost.

Yeah, I think there may some confusion here. That port forwarding program is only going to be able to create a static IP for your computer. I don't think it would be able to manage the 360. So it sounds to me like you may be screwing up the IPs and where ports are being forwarded.

yeah, just started thinking the same thing. been dicking with it for about 15 minutes trying different shit off of google. fuck it, guess i'll go buy a few routers and find one that keeps me from having to mess with these god damn settings that i don't have a clue about.:|

i went to the 'add reservation page'. it shows my xbox when the box is on. it disappears(ofc) when i turn it off. so should i still add the xbox to the reservation page even though it shows up when my xbox is powered on?

sorry i'm a complete moron about this.

alright, i just added the xbox under the address reservation.

as of now my xbox network settings are set to manual. should they be on auto?

Since you made the reservation go ahead and try the 360 on auto.

[edit] Also, make sure those port forwarding setting are now pointing to the correct address, undo any DMZ settings you entered, and go to the UPnP setting and make sure UPnP is on. On my router it is its own option near the bottom of the left hand menu.

hey again, i've noticed my NAT keeps getting set back to strict. At least once a day I have to re-ad the address reservation so it opens up again. ANy idea?
