Nasty BIOS-related problem

I am using ASUS Update to flash (well, I'm trying to) my BIOS to an older version.

I need to flash it to version 1009 (from current Beta 1011-15). I downloaded the proper BIOS file, and I'd like to flash to it from the current beta version I'm using. But, upon the first try, ASUS Update tells me that the file is older then my current one, and to update it I need to do it the good old way (DOS/Floppy Disk).

I do not have a Floppy Disk Drive in the first place. So, such method is out of question for me.

But, later, I noticed in ASUS Update's options the possibility to revert to an older version. So I selected the option.

Then right after opening the 1009 BIOS file (.BIN format), it tells me that the BIOS file in question cannot be used with the Motherboard (in sig), and that the EEPROM type is incompatible. Of course I don't know what it means. And yes I made sure at least three times I downloaded the good BIOS for my Motherboard ... same results.

What can I/should I do ?

I wish it could be that simple mate.

I can't find one locally.

But I guess I could buy one of those USB Flash Memory devices. Would that work ? Are those things acting just like Floppy Disks ?

My local store has some, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB and 2GB ones from Corsair and Kingston.

If those things do the exact same thing than Floppy Disks then I guess I could just buy one and do the BIOS update the "good ol' way" via the Flash Memory as if it'd be a Floppy Disk.

But I'm wondering ... if such devices are properly recognized during a BIOS flash after the POST.

Then just create a bootable DOS CDROM and burn the flash utility and bin file to it. All you need is a clean DOS prompt. Only bad thing, you won't be able to backup your old BIOS using a util like Awardflash, but that's no big deal since you can probably download several versions of your BIOS from the web.
