First of all, don't call it a sport. I can play soccer. I can play football. I can play basketball (though I suck.) But can anyone 'play' NASCAR? Oh wait. I guess you can! Remember those fantasy games you used to play when you were 8 years old, and when you lost you'd change the rules in the middle of the game so you could win (usually ending with a brawl with your best friend?) I guess that's how you play NASCAR, change the rules in the middle of a fvcking 'race'. Also, when you were 8, didn't every game involve cheating? Well guess what folks...NASCAR LOVES CHEATERS!!! Everyone cheats...its so open you can't even doubt it. Trick fuel tanks, removal weights, etc. etc. How is this a real sport again?
Wasn't NASCAR supposed to be about 'stock cars'??? Nothing 'stock' about the current vehicles though. Hell, most of them are based on outdated models you can't even find at a dealership. Ricers are more authentic 'stock' than the piece of sh*t racecars in NASCAR. I'd rather *PAY* to see ricers race...no joke! At least they make left AND right turns! NASCAR should start over with small cars priced under $25,000 with max 2.5l 4-cylinder engines and max 12psi of boost. As stupid as it sounds it would make more sense (and be more entertaining) than the current setup.
Can you even call it a 'race'? Okay, we've all cracked the jokes about no right turns and going in circles. But a lot of good races are big ovals--take this weekend's Kentucky Derby for example. Of course, with the KD you don't have to sit there for hours watching horses run around 500 TIMES!!! And all those fans paying upwards of $100 per ticket get to watch 497 laps only to have the last laps raced at 55mph under a fvcking caution flag! So I wouldn't call it a race.
So the question remains...how/why does this make money?
