NASCAR under fire for using leaded gasoline

NASCAR doesn't suck, its still competitive motorsports. Theres all kinds of racing, and each requires it's own skill and specialties, and they each interst me in a particular way.

Don't try and say that "anyone could drive in circles all day long [on a track]", becuase you probably couldn't yourself. I'm not saying I've done it before, because I haven't, but doing what NASCAR does takes much skill, more than the average person out there.

FYI, NASCAR doesn't just go in left-handed circles[anymore], they also do road coarses like Watkins Glen, and Infineon Raceway.

One more reason to never go to one of these things. Been to 2 NASCAR races and both times I ended up walking around all over the place for much of the races. It's just painful to sit under the sun and watch loud cars move in circles for hours.

Whats wrong with leaded fuels? apart from the lead they pollute nowhere near as much as unleaded fuels. it takes years for the tetraethyle lead to build up to poisoness levels, but only a small amount of the carcingens found in unleaded fuel are required to cause cancer and other illnesses.
the only reason that leaded petrol was removed from the market was because it poisons the catalytic converters in emissioned cars.
don't beleive the government bullshit that was spread about how safe unleaded fuels are.

i don't argue with the fact that there's still alot of skill in nascar drivers (different from other kind of racers...)

but the sport is still boring as sht to watch except when they crash

As I posted over in P&N (not that I am being a repost nazi or admitting to visiting P&N), but general aviation aircraft burn leaded fuel and will continue to do so for some time. I bet on any given day the general aviation fleet burns more leaded fuel than nascar does an entire season.

Only for piston engines... and it's classified "low lead". I'm not sure of the parts per million.

Lead is bad news, I saw the effects of a small town with lead water pipes once. I'm not sure NASCAR matters much though in the grand scheme of things. Of course if they were concerned they'd limit it's usage. Seems better to make a political stink about it than do anything productive though.

It's still the most popular form of motorsports.... and it's not even close.
