Bud shootout just ended, lots of huge crashes, my house is about 3-4 miles from the track as the crow flies, I could smell the mix of burning rubber, smoke, and exhaust on my back porch..

I went to a live Nascar race a couple years back with my dad. I don't even follow Nascar, but seeing it live is still awesome. I'd probably go again.

Yea, you can't imagine how loud it is until you see one live. I could hear tonight's race easily (and thanks to a favorable wind drift, smell it too..).

Same here Red Squirrel, I don't actively follow Nascar, but my parents took me to a Firecracker 400 event when I was young and I must say that it was pretty cool!

Thoroughly enjoyed every second of the shootout. Hopefully NASCAR steps in and puts the kibosh on bump drafting through the turns, otherwise it's gonna be a messy 500.

Man, there is nothing better than the smell of a race.

Some rednecks would bust a nut smelling that at their own house.
There may be a market for a redneck Bed and Breakfast...

LOL, usually the predominant wind direction here is from the east (ocean breeze) but last night it came out of the west which brought the odors. Lots of fans come in huge RV's and stay in the infield but the views from there are limited because of the size of the track..

Moved from OT, thought it would be better over here and asked Butch1 and he agreed...

I also told him if we could put that smell in a can we would make tons O cash and send me some...

Awesome race but lots of work to be done to get the cars right (also fix all the wrecked junk...:p) but hey now they have EFI and can tune each cylinders fuel and ignition timing to get even more HP... But can only be changed during a race from behind the wall in the garage area... Just to add was a great finish and even though I'm not a Kyle Bush fan he drove a car that was in no shape what so ever to win all the way to victory lane and deserved it for a change... Dood can drive...

I compelely forgot it was on and forgot to DVR it. Watched the highlights and it looked like a good race. I'm off for the 150's and the 500 so it's all good.

Nah, let them police themselves. Remember that disaster of a race at Taladegga a while back? We don't need another snooze fest. Lots of cars are going to get tore up, that's the nature of plate racing, especially now that it looks like pack racing is back.

God and just when I was getting into the bump drafting they go and ruin it. The 500's going to be a massacre of the drivers don't smarten up quick.

Yea, he made an insanely skilled maneuver to keep control, I can't ever remember seeing a car that pummeled that won a race at Daytona. You have to wonder if the mechanics will try to find a way to cheat with the FI, they tried various means of getting around the restrictor plate, one drilled small holes in the intake manifold, another just didn't tighten the bolts very much that held the carb on allowing air to go under the gasket, we'll see, as Richard Petty once said, "if you ain't cheating, you ain't winning", LOL..

Ruin it? It was incredible racing!

They probably will ruin it by outlawing the bumping in the turns.

Any time Gordon tries to root someone out of the way in a turn, and Gordon ends up rolling and landing upside-down, and the other guy wins the race...

Then, if the other guy is Kyle Busch...

Next, if the crowd booed the hell out of Kyle Busch at the start, and then cheered the hell out of him at the end...

You know it was a hell of a race...

That it was, if it's the last couple of laps you can expect to get rooted if your blocking the faster car, not really defending Gordon but it's kinda business as usual at Daytona..
