Hi all;

I just 2 days ago received NASCAR Sim Racing. It loaded with no problems but wouldn't play. I then uninstalled and reinstalled with same problem.

The game will load and I can get to the track I want, but as soon as I begin drivng, it crashes/locks up. I get either a black screen, or the system simply locks and must be manually rebooted.

System Specs:

P4 3.2E
XP 90 with 92mm fan
Seasonic 500W
IC7 Max III
XFX 6600GT 71.84 drivers
2X200GB Seagate SATA HD's
Antec Sonata W/2X120mm case fans

Was using Catalina Sound card, but that was focus of first problem as I found links where someone else had problems with Voeyertra (sp?) sound cards and EA Games. Now using onboard Realtek 5.1 sound.

I don't believe it's a heat problem as I have no heat problems in MOH or COD or NASCAR Racing 2004, '03. This is an updated version with higher graphic requirements.......could my card just be crapping our on this game?

I installed and played it fine on an AMD 2800, with a 6800GT, but ive uninstalled it about 1 hour later.

Frankly, im not that impressed with the gameplay. I think it tries hard to come close to Papyrus Nascar Season 2003 but just can't. I doubt any racing sim type game will come close to the realism and touch of nascar season 2003 and the huge community it has behind it.

Yeah, we've got that too and play it a lot. Thing is, my husband sent us this and said they were having a blast with it. He actually works for JGR and sets up the computers wherever they go at the tracks. I just wanted this installed and working so bad before he gets back Friday for Easter.

I'm no "novice" to systems either. I worked for Monsanto for years in their Computer Systems department. (that's what they named it way back when....) We are actually going to build a new A64 system, but have not ordered yet because a friend of ours has had a big problem with the DFI Ultra nForce 4 board everyone here likes and we just don't know what to order motherboard wise. My husband I can tell is leaning more to going back to Intel (Intel sponsers JGR and NASCAR so that's all they use) but our sons like gaming and the A64's really shine there so I'd like to build one........just not sure what to buy.

Anyway, I'd sure like to know the problem with this game.....if it's the video card or what. I submitted a tech report to EA............but not going to hold my breath there......if ANYBODY has any ideas for me.......PLEASE..............my sons will kill me if I don't get this going and my husband will spend all of Easter weekend until he MAKES it work or breaks it!

I have this game with no problems. I ran a few races before I quit though. I just don't really like it.

Look at it this way. NASCAR Season 2003 by Papyrus is great because they've had numerous chances to get it right. They had 4 or 5 NASCAR titles leading up to 2003 season, so if it wasn't great, something was wrong. This is EA's first attempt, so don't be so quick to write them off. Now if in a few years from now EA still can't get it right with their 3rd or 4th attempt, then you can disown them.

With that said, I love SimRacing, and I think it's great. You haters can stay with your 2003 season. :)

Laughing to loud to type.[/quote]
He said 'their first attempt', not 'their first good racing sim'. So those were in fact their first 'attempt', whether good or bad.
