I just got done watching nascar. Isn't it funny after the race when the drivers are interviewed they're always drinking a softdrink, making sure that the drink itself is on camera. This one guy was actually chugging on a 2 liter bottle of Coke as if that was normal. How funny is that. Waltrip looked like a feg sipping on a can of Coke like Ms Daisy. Come on now. It's obvious they're not thirsty.

Anything for the sponsors. NASCAR is a product of advertising and sponsors.

Edit: it's actually in the contracts of a lot of drivers, that they have to do that.

Yes, they would probably rather be drinking water, but every time they show a sponsor = $$$ in their pocket..

Let me put it this way: If I told you that you couldn't make a living unless you displayed my logo as prominently as possible, you'd do the exact same thing. Period.

something about running in the same circle for hundred of times doesn't interest me in NASCAR racing.

it's funny now that i think of it. Who invented it? they must of thought...hey let's make it so that they'll run in circles for hundred of times so that they'll get exhausted, and to make it fun for us to watch, we'll overload the track with cars so that by the 99th laps, they'll get exhausted and crash and burn.

too true. :(

Nascar used to race Stock cars.

Like you could go to the Plymouth Dealer, and buy a car, install a roll bar,
and go racing.

Not now. :(
The cars all are so similar it is sad.

I could tell what the cars where in 1966,and 1986,not these days, not easy anyways.

NASCAR is a necessary evil. It the only 3 hour window in which Walmart shoppers do not reproduce. We need NASCAR 24/7. :p

Next time you see a winner get interviewed, watch how many times they change his hat.

How true... :D

BTW... Nascar is a sport that atleast does not have the drug & alcohol scandles that all other sports seem to be plauged with... The just dont tolerate it... A recent event proved that... Its much more of a family oriented sport and if the Nascar sanction has its way, it will stay that way... If the image of a Nascar driver drinking their sponser`s soft drink or beverage in any strange way has a bearing on anything then you may just be anal... ;)

NASCAR... you either get it or you dont...

I`ve been watching Nascar since before it was even cool and will do so till time ends... Also going to the fall race at the Lowe`s Motor Speedway and have a blast... :D

Mainly because of the "good" publicity with out scandles and bad images of various other sports... (football, baseball, basketball all have been so tarnished by drugs, violence and corruption) Is that what you want to teach your kids...?

Also the "auto" is a highly revered aspect of the American way of life (a personnaly owned billboard)... Just my opinion...?

It doesn't look like the most fun motor sport to watch but it would sure as hell be fun to be doing it :)

Blah at advertising. If some guy can make money wearing a cap or drinking this 2l bottle of coke more power to the dude. I'd do it also if they were to pay me :p

While on the subject of Nascar...

I took a ride around Pocono last Wednesday in a stock car, fun as all hell!! Only problem I had was bein' put in the 24 car :D

While not at the speed the Cup guys go it was still flippin' fast. That track is nuts, there's a bump in the tunnel turn that all but throws the car and at that speed it's wicked. Those cars got some power, comin off of turn 1 with it floored from the center out, unreal :)

I think if anyone, even those who say "going around is circles isn't racing" would just try it (lots of tracks offer ride-alongs and such) they would appreciate it much more. But as long as they're happy reposting the same old crap about it every chance they get, then the more power to them.

Pic! of me gettin in the car :)

Whats really cool to see is people like my wife that until mid-season last year had no interest in Nascar what so ever but after sitting and watching a couple of races and seeing how much effort and dedication is put into the sport and its teams and NOT just the individual... Also many of the drivers are very involved with charities from kids to animals which also caught her attention... Heck even my now 10 year old daughter likes to watch and has her favorites...

Also their are no real "bad guys" (or girls now) just a few more vivid drivers that are as human as you or I... But always under the microscope... ;)
