NASCAR crashes

i'm no NASCAR fan and just maybe being at an actual race will get me to change my mind...but until that happens (not likely), the only time it's exciting to watch is during pitstops or spin-outs or engine trouble or crashes. THISSSSS is what i'm talking about. 😀

I watch it, but I'd watch F1 or WRC first, if they were both on at the same time.

Better than baseball, at least.

Nothing like seeing a seeing a small-block monster sliding to an eventual halt after sliding on it's roof for about a quarter mile after it's been sideswiped and then been the victim of a head-on collision...

good times:beer:

Nascar fan here. HATED it until I spent half a year living in Alabama in 2000. Shoot, there was nothing else to do.

Followed it religiously ever since. F1, CART, everything else is boring to me. I watched Tony Kanaan win today...*yawn* 18 cars? Not enough action, even with the spectacular wreck at the end. I also LOL'd at the fact that the announcers didn't think Franchitti knew the race was over.

When I got my Home Theater I became a big NASCAR fan because it was the best thing in HD with surround sound. Since then I've come to realize how high tech it is and how much teamwork goes into having a winning car and team. I know prefer it over Football and Baseball.

Also since becoming a NASCAR fan I've also become a fan or the IRL and Drag Races. F1 is ok but there's not enough passing and excitement compared to the other forms of racing plus I find those little Euro Weenie Nancies who drive the F1 cars to be rather annoying (not that Dan Wheldon of the IRL isn't just the same but since he's a Brit it figures)

As far as crashes go I think the IRL crashes are more spectatcular and horrifying. Franchitti has had two hellacious crashed in consecutive weeks, I'm sure his wife Ashely Judd wants im to switch to a more safer form of racing like NASCAR. Those Indy cars don't have the all the safety measures that a NASCAR has built into the cockpit plus the way they are designed it only takes running over another cars wheels to get them airborne at 215 mph+ flipping over front to back like what happened to Franchitti in both of his recent crashes. He's lucky to emerge unscathed from both of them.

The most boring thing to watch on TV besides Baseball. I'm talkin about the rodent wheel races, ones that are actually on tracks are more entertaining.

"And he finishes the race in the 18th position, upside down, on fire."

I'm not a Nascar fan; I don't watch a lot of sports on television. But baseball is far more boring on television. There's a grand total of about 80 seconds of action spread out over 4 hours. 280 seconds if you count the pitches that aren't hit. Even I recognize that Nascar is more exciting than baseball. By the way, who watches golf on television??

the CoT may have changed this, but nascars had been by far the most unsafe race cars on the planet. and the style of racing has a lot to do with it. rubbing may be racing but it's also causes accidents. the way the cars are intentionally bunched up encourages accidents as well.

They are little weenies because carrying extra weight around hinders the performance of the car...not to mention a big fat driver would have difficulty getting into and out of a modern Formula One machine. Which is why loudmouth idiots like Robby Gordon, who probably weighs in at over 200lbs, complain about drivers like Danica Patrick who weighs about 100lbs.

I don't know about safety in the IRL but F1 is the pinnacle of safety in motor racing IMO. There was a spectacular crash in Montreal this year where the driver lost consciousness but was otherwise unharmed. That crash would have surely killed a driver only 10 years ago.

Of course the cars get airborne if you touch wheels. That's why you don't do that. You really don't see that kind of contact in F1 very often though. I think racing open wheel cars on an oval present some drastically different problems than road racing open wheel cars though.

I love Formula One and I've been following it closely for over 10 years now.

That said, I would like to see Montoya do well today. Where are they racing? Watkins Glen?

Yeah. He's starting back in the pack so he'll have his work cut out for him plus with his reckless style of driving he hasn't made many friends so like yesterday he should expect to get banged around some but I'm sure he'll be doing some rough driving himself. He's not much of a fan favorite.

BTW, since I've been following the IRL closely this year I've noticed what Danica does best is whine and snivel. She's also prone to throwing temper tantrums (she'd fit in perfectly with F1 racing)
