I already have a conf call at 1pm today. Tell them to reschedule for me. Appreciate it.

3 earth sized planets orbiting a star 40 light years away that are in the habitable zone with a total of 7 earth sized planets in all. A very interesting discovery.

It's in the backyard from a galactic perspective. Great info revealed in the press release. One of the three is tidally locked I believe, one had confirmed water in-atmosphere (which would heavily imply liquid water on the surface), and all three are Goldilocks-y. In addition they said all would have comparable radiation levels to earth (from the host star). No word on moons, but they are close enough to create tidal forces on each other. Tiny system, planets trappist-1b-h range in orbital periods from 1.5d to like, 20-25d.

Pretty cool discovery. It makes me wonder that if our species evolved in such a solar system, how much more of a space based species we'd be by now due to the proximity of planets, and potential of multiple worlds that could support life and colonization much easier than a planet like Mars.

If we can see them, they can see us. Time to launch the B17s.

Suppose we find life on another planet. The breathing-thinking kind. Do we let them know we're here?

You realize that humans have existed on Earth for over 6 million years? Or if we are to take perhaps the more scientific definition, perhaps humans have existed for over 8 million years, with 2 species still stuck in the stone age, and 1 species in the early space age.

Ok, was about to reply with something funny, then realized that an interstellar kinetic impact weapon could be devastating....
