Nice find. :)

The music played when the rover is on the Mars surface sure sounds familiar.

Edit: I just checked the credits and it's from American Beauty.

that was amazing, i'm in awe as to how much we can do from so far away!

although its weird, SO much money into a project like this, its equivalent of sending a rover to the sahara and having it roll around. what would it accomplish? i'm probably clueless, someone fill me in!

still fascinated though.

poor rover, all lonely up there :(

The music is by Thomas Newman... either from his American Beauty Score or Shawshank Redemption score. I can't say for sure which, they sound similar.

Great find on the video!

whoa, did a save target as...
62.4 MB

Those with dial-up, don't bother! :)
This was the first real test since I tweaked my connection a bit... between 2 and 3 minutes, not too shabby for cable.

Since we're on the topic of realism here, whats with all that American Beauty music in space too? I never knew that existed ambiently!

Great Video.

Felt kinda sad watching that thing roam around all alone. (especially with that music going on)

Well, I changed my lesson plans for first period tomorrow... first thing I'm doing is showing that video... Current events in science are great for physics class. Gotta burn to CD now so I have it :)

Am I the only one that found the robot cute? I think with it's eyes and the way it moved it looked cute, almost human like.

Probably because they can only send a limited amount of data back to Earth and don't want to use it up with a lot of color photos.

The things human kind can do... just unbelievable.

And is it true we're only using 3% of our brains ?

nasa needs to build a optical multigigbit system for communications asap. it takes 4EVAR for radio signals to come home!

Are you missing a few brain cells? No matter if we had a direct wire connection to Mars, the signal would take the same time to get here. There is something known as the speed of light which is the speed radio signal's travel. There is a significant distance between the Earth and Mars in which this delay can be seen roaring it's head.

maybe you're only using 3% of yours. Seems to me that someone here is using more than that.
