That's an interesting theory on how to find intelligent life. Wait until we discover a planet starts moving out of it's orbit, then point to it and announce the discovery of alien life!

ROTFL...

I seriously think the people who think of this stuff, sit in a room and all get stoned... and they record their conversations. :)

Heh, oh boy, I don't know if I want them playing slingshot with earth and comets, it'll be a real life Armageddon if somebody sneezed while firing a rocket :p
Oh well, I'm pretty sure we'll be long gone before they try to start something like this...if not, they've got a billion years to get it right! :)

SSP: LOL :D

This is one of the dumbest ideas i've ever heard. Why does NASA screw up everything they do? Like hiring intelligent people..

Any NASA engineer would make 98% of this forum look like a stockboy at walmart.

umm, some of the smartest minds on this planet work there. you can stop talking out of your arse now. they have accomplished an unbelievable amount of things that we thought was nothing but science fiction a few years ago. damn you're an idiot...i'm sorry, but i can't believe you said the scientists at nasa were unintelligent.

Because the world's greatest scientists have been bought by the consumer industries to create better french fries and extra-whitening toothpaste. Not as much of a joke as you may think...

True that BlueMax...

Anyway, I wonder how the movement of Earth will affect the planetary pull of other bodies in our solar system, namely the other planets...

Don't fvck with nature! Throwing all the planets out of their orbits would really mess things up...

Capn: Ever met a Nasa engineer?... they may make members of the forum look like Stockboys in math... but I think the engineers would look like cavemen in some of our political, and philosophy discussions....

They're smart people... no question... but they're not necessarily that scoially together.

doboji, agreed, but that's a tendency with all engineers. If the government wants NASA to start doing philosophical research, I'll be the first to protest. :)

LMFAO! It might be practical in 900 million years, although maybe we should do it now just in case (as always) we die out by helping other civilizations and never ourselves...

as long as it remains in the proper ratio orbit with Mars and Jupiter, we'll be fine.

heh, things would be pretty neat if Mars and Earth rotated around each-other eh?

we don't need to find a way to get to mars using a space ship, we'll just move our planet there!

btw, guys, don't make fun, cause it's the crackpot who comes up with the impossible dream, like going to the moon, but look. we've done it now! on to bigger and better things!

about the potential for problems? well, that wouldn't happen if NASA was properly funded.. it's only a matter of time before another Space Shuttle blows up..

after all, when Apollo was going on, they only had one big problem (Apollow 13), and they were able to get the people back. what if one of the technicians who helped out to solve the problems on Apollo 13 wasn't there because of government budget cuts?

well lets just say, NASA would either not exist, or would be more interested in Aeronautics then Space..

Actually, one of my math profs works full time for JPL. He wouldn't be a cave man in political/philosophical discussions. He has his own views and can back them up fairly decently.
