Currently have an AMD A6 HTPC w/ (2) 1TB HDDs with Plex Media Server connected to a Roku for streaming.

I'm looking to expand my storage options and am thinking of having a NAS connected to my current HTPC via powerline network.

Assuming optimal network conditions, would there be any issue streaming from the NAS and transcoding on the HTPC (and potentially then wireless to mobile devices)?

I'm considering something basic like the Synology DS214se..

Thanks

I use a VM for my Plex Server which uses File Shares for the content to stream, to ATV3 (wired though wireless was fine also) The HOST is only an Old Xeon dual core 2GHz x 2, so you should be fine as long as the network connection is suitable....

I stream on my roku with just regular old Wireless G.

I don't know the performance characteristics of power line networking so can't comment on that. A number of the NAS devices out there support USB wireless cards... I've got the bedrooms and ht area in the basement wired with cat5e and gig e switches in the home office and basement ht.... So I just use wired for most things :)

I recently ordered a 4 drive NAS for around $300 (QNAP 420), it's a low end 4 bay NAS, but it does support a number of wirelesss USB cards for people who don't have good wired setups. (I will be connecting it to gig E, so not planning to try wifi)
