I really wanna watch the new ep but I feel that I must watch the fillers, first...I'm torn. I'm on ep. 141.

That's more than a year's worth of fillers. They're useless anyways and have nothing to do with the main plot.

So no one does anything (no new powers, new friends, etc) in ALL of those fillers? I can literally go from ep 136 (where they're all in the hospital and Jairya (sp?) offers to train Naruto on the big toad) to present without missing ANYTHING?

Yeah, fillers rarely add anything, because they don't have the liberty to do so. That's why typically movies and fillers are usually just awful (note, movies are usually bad unless they are a continuation and actually tell the story).

I don't know how you people could actually read the Naruto manga still... I stopped reading after Akatsuki captured the... second person I think? Purely boring and just the same thing over and over ("Hey, we're gunna get you" "No wais, I'm a jinchurikki" "Durr, we're super bad guys, we pwn all" "oh, I'm screwed"). Bleach is most certainly better than Naruto and One Piece is better than that (when comparing shounen serializations).

EDIT: As a note, to my knowledge, the first "episode" was actually episode 1 and 2.

The manga has definitely picked up as of late and gotten better. Naruto is turning out to be a real beast (no pun intended).

I skipped almost all of the filler episodes, I fast forwarded through them for the most part.

Last week was episode 1 & 2. That's why it was an hour special. This week is episode 3 and it should be really good. I painfully watched all the fillers, and I can't believe how bad Naruto got. I'm so glad fillers are over.

Yep. Pretty much. The fillers provide some hints at what to expect once you get back to the main storyline (Sakura during the filler where the old dude was laying traps all over the Hidden Leaf Village for example) but the development is disjointed and doesn't make alot of sense - The Konoha Ninjas barely make use of their special abilities during the last set of fillers as another example.

You really won't miss out on anything if you skip them.

Ok I know Ep 4 is out but I just saw Ep 3, is it just me or did animation take a crap?
