Dattebayo is REALLY fast at subbing. :)

How is the quality compared to ANBU-AonE? I'm hesitant about DB b/c they sometimes release version 2 because of (I'm guessing) subbing or timing issues.

I generally watch the DB ones anyway. Anbu-aone seem to be taking a week to do it now. I grab that one just to replace the DB ones in my archives though.

Hey anubis, when is Samurai Champloo going to start showing again?

Damn... With all these sites shutting down, its getting hard to get shows that are licensed. :(

DB subs are pretty good for how fast they are, not as good as anbu/aone but like 90% as good, every now and then there is a version 2 of anbu/aone stuff also

Samauri Champloo ep 18 is airing in japan on this saturday, IDK who is still subbing it because AF said they were gonna stop,
Beginning in January 2005, AnimeForever will no longer support the distribution of our fansubs once they are available on DVD in the US.
This means that once a Region 1 DVD is released, we will remove the episodes included on the DVD from the bots we control, and from our torrent archive and tracker.
We have not had a single policy in the past regarding when to remove fansubs, and this marks our attempt to define a clear rule. Some episodes we currently offer meet the criteria above, but we will not remove any of them until January 2005. In addition, the teams that handle ongoing series will have some discretion over when to remove batch torrents of earlier episodes that may overlap the episodes offered on new DVD releases.
While we do not control individual fserves, we kindly request that IRC users respect our policy and do not continue to distribute episodes once we have removed them.

however someone will finish it and it will be here for DL

Samauri 7 has finished airing however IY-F who was the only one subbing it has put it on HOLD because they lost a translator and they cant do everything with 1 dude, episode 19 is out and on their site
http://www.iy4ever.net/

so if any of you are fluent in japanese and have some free time, go contact them and help them out, they are a great bunch of dudes based out of europe IIRC

and Anime licensed or unlicensed is no harder to get now that snova and the like are down, because all snova and thoes places did was rehost the torrents that were allready hosted by someplace else, you just had to go to the origional site and you are golden

Keep dreaming... or wait a year or two. You might as well just get the subs as they come out.

I'm wondering is it illegal if I ask someone to burn copies of the downloaded anime sub files and send it to me?

I'd be very careful in doing this. People on the forums may do it for you, but it's walking a very shakey legal line.

Question for you Anubis:

Do you ever bother going and redownloading the DVD quality rips of the series that already came out? Or do you just stick with the original fansubs?

Cost of DVD media + Shipping and Handling is about it.

what do you mean by shakey legal line? Could you elaborate?
