Narrowing down the honeymoon...

Ok, would like to have this sewn up in the next couple days.

Thinking Hawaii or Mexico (I've only been to Puerto Vallarta so I assume we'd go there, I dunno).

Pricerange I'm looking at is roughly between $1100 and $1500, depending on how much extra work I can scrape together.

Can get flights for $360 each to Hawaii if I leave from LAX. Figured we could fly from Seattle to California and I could surprise her with the 2nd leg of the trip (she wouldn't like JUST going to Cali for the honeymoon)

Trying to do some research through Hotwire, biddingfortravel/priceline/etc. and basically need to narrow down my choices from a mind-numbing wall o' stuff to a few definite alternatives. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Pretty set on a beach location someplace. I'll want to sip some margaritas in the sun.

Hawaii will cost a lot more when you include room and board and meals and things like that. A LOT more.

Thanks. Good to keep reminding myself of this. Although, to rationalize, she'll want to pay for things once we're wherever we end up going. I'm planning on a few hundred for meals and things once we get wherever. Will also pick up an entertainment book to help out.

Book a room at a local Motel 6 and save yourself a grand or so. You're just going to be doing the Humpty Dumpty 24/7 anyway.

I'll just get a tent at Target and set it up out back. Either that or swap places with my parents (they have a place on Lake Washington). Yeah... that'd score big points ;)

Seriously though, she's planned a TON of this wedding and deserves a helluva good time.

i have budgetted $1400 on food, drink, souvenirs, and that kind of thing for 6 days in Hawaii, which we leave for tomorrow!:D

Hawaii is MUCH more expensive for things, just an FYI. Gas right now where we will be staying is $2.25/gal :Q

Where are ya staying? How did things break down in cost?

Another actor in the show I'm currently in has a friend who has a house on Maui (I believe) that he rents out to people for up to like $600 a night. I'm puttin' the feelers out to see if he'd be receptive to some sort of trade of services, needed computer work or somethin'.

Hapuna Prince Hotel.

We ended up paying $800/person for the flight from Detroit, room is $600 total, Jeep is $300, and then taxes, fees, etc. The $1400 is for everything else.

I have found the best way to do this cheaply is find the lowest cost day spa and send you wife there all day. If you find hookers in the afternoon they are a little more reasonable. It's a win-win situation ;)

good luck! :)

Zihua is very cool, not very touristy, affordable and has great beaches, villas, etc.

Hmm... dumb question. But would I need a passport?

NO just valid ID and original birth certificate (not a copy)

Edit: I personally loved Cancun. It was MUCH MUCH nicer than Puerto Vallarta.

I wouldn't bring my original birth certificate.

Most likely a certified copy (with a rubber stamp seal from your county) should suffice.

I just priced a few through Funjet from Seattle to Cancun (6 nights) and the prices ranged from $1200-$3000 for round trip air, all-inclusive resort and transfers.

The prices really vary depending on the dates travelled and resort selected.

I always travel through Funjet and have had fantastic service and price.
