One thing I would note about the leather band: If this is a watch that you'll only be wearing when dressing up a bit more, then the leather won't see the wear and tear like a daily wear watch. Add in that you'll be in a suit or something similar, it just fits better than metal bands.

Has that sort of james bond-esque suaveness to it (not in the gadget sense, but in the romantic womanizer sense) .

I am a big fan of Hamiltons, especially on leather straps. That was my intro watch into the world of nice watches--it's an established, well-made brand that will garner respect from those who know watches.

Narrowed down my search to these two watches within my budget of $250 (though on the Hamilton I'm torn between the Leather Strap or the Bracelet - I could always get the bracelet and buy a leather strap later). Looking for something that's good for a suit, as well as everyday. Already have a nice Victrionox, so I don't want anything too sporty.

Hamilton Jazzmaster (Quartz, Sapphire Crystal, very thin at 7mm)

And the other watch

Bulova (Automatic, Mineral Crystal, high gloss bracelet, thicker & no power reserve)

All three are right about $200-$250

Bulova, if that's a real tourbillon.

The Hamilton with the leather band by far. Big clunky metal bands, like most ornate man jewelry, are for taste-challenged rubes or the penis-length impaired.

I would go with the Hamilton. Leather band looks nice.

I would get the Hamilton on the bracelet, which suits the watch well, and get a couple of straps to swap in when you want to wear it that way. I actually like the look of a black dressy watch on a brown strap.

I've had a lot of problems with my Bulova Automatic watch keeping time even during the day while being worn. Started having the problem about 2 months after buying it. Just keep it as jewelry now and use my phone to keep accurate time.
