Macro2, I am an old progressive rock DJ from the 1970s and I've been collecting records since 1965. The first three 45 rpm records I bought at age 9 were Help by The Beatles, Satisfaction by the Stones and Like A Rolling Stone by Dylan.
My latest project (just completed after several months) was taking the Billboard Top 40 Country and Rock 'Roll books by Joel Whitburn and downloading most of those hits. WinMx struck out many times, but audiogalaxy (and Napster) never did.
I'm also into old country, jazz and swing hits from as far back as the 1920s.
WinMx is good, but it just doesn't have the variety of mp3 titles that audiogalaxy has. Your statement is not accurate.
I will agree that WinMx is sometimes a much faster download than audiogalaxy, but sometimes WinMx is awful slow, too. And sometimes audiogalaxy is pretty fast as well.
I haven't used BearShare, but I took WinMX off my system because when it could not find all the mp3s I wanted. Audiogalaxy and the old Napster could.
