Man that is pathetic. I had read that a new version of Napster, version 10.3 Beta would be blocking only what they were specifically told to block by the RIAA. I guess it doesn't matter when there is no one on the service anymore. Anyone remember what the peak numbers used to be?

Dang, thats pathetic! I remember using Napster with close to 10,000 users online sharing a lot more than 3gigs. heck, I've got more than 3 gigs of music.

<< I've got more than 3 gigs of music. >>

I know what you mean, if I shared all my files it would be like a 300% increase, and I know people with more than 20 gigs worth of MP3s easy.

The most I ever saw on any single Napster server at one time was about 25,000 people with 40TB of files. Averages were about 12,000 people with 5TB.

Believe me, I moved on along time ago. :D I don't really use Napster anymore. I just saw a story on the new version and wanted to check it out.

I noticed the samething with Napster. I was on the other day and there was something like 350 gigs of data shared, then i upgraded yesterday to the new version and it went down to 14 gigs lol, bye bye Napster.

When I used morpheus I left my computer on through the night to download. when i came to it the next morning i found my connection being attacked by thousands of different ip's. pretty sure it was a DoS attack similar to the one that happened to grc.com. needless to say, i don't use morpheus anymore. anyone else have a similar experience?

<< morpheus and kazaa are pretty much the same thing. i have both of them, but i use Kazaa more >>

THEY ARE THE SAME THING you dummy :).

actually, morpheus is a DIRECT rip from kazaa. and when I mean direct, I MEAN DIRECT. all they did to the program was change the name to morpheus and tada... Check your unfinished downloads (temporary files) for morpheus, the filenames are named kazaa.

The last 25 mp3's I've downloaded from Napster also have a skip about 5-10 seconds in.. Making them Un-burnable with Nero at least. Meh.

I'm not sure what peak numbers used to be. Think they'll start charging any time soon? (or do they already??)
