I recently installed a Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL Router, model BEFSR41. Now I have problems with Napster. I get a lot of transfer errors and most of the transfers never even start. If I Disable the "Block WAN Request" and set my computer as a "DMZ Host", it seems to work a lot better. However, I don't want to have to do this because as far as I can tell, that pretty much defeats the firewall. Any suggestions???

set up napster to use behind a firewall and open [forward] the port that it uses to the computer that is using napster. in my case it is 6699.

Yes you will need to forward port [6699] to the Napster computer.

Let me add--in order to forward the port you will need to setup the machine on a static ip address.

Example setup: (Napster computer config)
ip address static -- 192.168.0.40
DNS server -- 192.168.0.1
Gateway -- 192.168.0.1

enter router config--(i dont have a Linksys so i can't tell you the menu item)

-- Port ---- ip address
1) default - 0.0.0.0
2) 6699 ---- 192.168.0.40
