Napa Valley Honeymoon, anyone have suggestions?

We've spent a while looking over the various lodging and wine tours etc, and are still trying to decide. If anyone from that area or california, who has more experience than we do in wine/tasting, etc (which is none =) has an opinion I would love to hear it.

We are on a pretty limited budget unfortunately, so try to shy away from the stretch limo tours as suggestions =) Looking to spend between 100-150 per night at a lodging, 200 at MOST.

Thanks in advance!

Don't know about lodging, but was in Sacramento and did a trip to Napa for the day. Went to Sterling, Peju, Mondavi, Coppola, ans another couple of wineries. Peju was cool, very funny guys there doing tastings. Sterling had good wine, and was entertaining.... Coppola's winery/house was cool, get to see a lot of his memorabilia.

I hear the French Laundry is nice....hehe.....

One of my favorite backroads through the wine counties is 128. Goes through Calistoga and a myriad of smaller towns, some beautiful views. 29 is a nice touristy road to take as well. If you take 128, you'll wind up on 101 and can go out to the coast. If you're doing the wine counties, Napa is the popular one (and most expensive) but Sonoma and Mendocino are pretty too. Fetzer Vineyards is a nice spot. Wine tasting and they're famous for their gardens. That's in Hopland, in Mendo county. There's a B&B there, an okay spot, not as honeymoon-cute as some of the Napa ones but possibly better priced. There are some really nice B&Bs out on the coast by Mendocino and Fort Bragg.

What time of year are you coming? The trip can really vary in its scenery depending on the season.

Napa is fantastic - check out the Oakville Grocery (half-way up/down the valley) - grab some french bread, grab some cheese/pate..pick up some wine....fantastic lunch awaits you
get a buzz for free sampling wines you don't need a tour - fly to san fran - rent a car (only when you leave town!) - go first to Muir Woods (on your way to Napa - fantastic - eat lunch at Larkspur Inn - you won't regret it (unbelievable food) you don't need any tour in Napa - just drive up the road and stop at any winery you want (get a tour book) - there all nice, you'll have fun, a tour guide won't add anything to the experience..

Sonoma Valley (just next door, over the mountains through Vieder)

Sonoma is more laid back

if your budget allows..you will be delighted with the Sonoma Mission Inn...ultra romantic very good honeymon spot

another spot - super romantic is Big Sur (south of san fran) look at the Post Ranch Inn or Ventana Inn (purported to be where God goes on vacation)

dude.. I am here at Napa right now!!

I took my gf to Calistoga (it's right next to Napa) for a Mud Bath. It cost around $150 for a mud bath + a half session of massage. Its her first time.. and she totally loved it! She was so relaxed that she didn't wanna drive down to oakland/berkeley area like we originally planned. So we got a room here at Napa.

The place we are staying is okay.. it's call The Chateau I am not sure if that's where you'd like to spend your honeymoon at but it's a decent lodging all for $100 after AAA discount. Tomorrow we are going just drive down the street and visit any winery that my gf feels like visiting 🙂

I love Motorola v60 🙂 I am using it right now to act as a modem so I can go online!!!!
