Ncix.com (a Canadian etailer) is selling 3 different types of PC2100 DDR ram. They have "Micron" for $66cdn, No Name for $64cdn, and Nanya for $59cdn.

The Micron looks like real Micron/Crucial ram (Crucial part no CT3264Z265) vs. Micron chips on a 3rd party board....It says its CAS2.5
There aren't any details given for the Nanya or NoName one, but I find it puzzling that a "brand name" ie the Nanya piece is selling for less than no name parts.

Has anyone ever heard of Nanya before? Is it good quality (Better than Micron/Crucial) ? Thanks.

PS. I don't want to order from Crucial.com as I'm sure many will recommend because the shipping to Canada is quite expensive and you often get slapped with duty and brokerage fees.

I used some Nanya Mushkin value RAM about 2 years ago and it was really slow. I would go with the Micron RAM if you can afford it.

Personally I'd get the Nanya, but thats just because I seem to have some odd memory of them being a decent company having some connection with Canada. I can't think of what it might be though, so I guess this is just a nef post.

I have 2 x 256 DDR ram from Kingston which has Nanya CAS 2.5 chips.

My Soltek SL-75DRV MoBo locks up if I set the CAS to 2 in the BIOS. Other than that I find this Ram as stable as my old Micron SDRam which I used for a couple of years.

thanks for the advice from everyone. I decided to get the Micron/Crucial piece.

Hopefully the price of 512mb PC2100 will come down soon enough. With only two DDR slots on the K7S5A I didn't want to occupy both with 256mb, so I just ordered one for the time being.

I'm almost certain Nanya produces ram for Corsair. So it should be pretty decent. But if you want to be sure, go with crucial.
