Good stuff. I want to fill the entire projects screen on my home PC. I only have 25 active projects attached to that computer so far.. :p

Of course, not all of them are actually running on the machine, but I've returned at least 200 points in results for every project on that computer in order to get the WU processing times and daily points estimates for my project list thread... :)

An update;

Hello,
Here's an update on Nano-Hive@Home:
Closed beta testing of Nano-Hive@Home by a small team of BOINC experts continues. Open enrollment for beta testing is delayed while an issue that prevents proper WU processing on some computers is resolved.

Nano-Hive@Home is a distributed computing system used to simulate large-scale nanotech systems that draws its computing power from otherwise idle computers sitting in people's homes. Users download and install a special client program onto their computer, and when the computer's screensaver comes on, the client program requests some work from a Nano-Hive@Home server, calculates it with the Nano-Hive simulator, then sends the results back to the server.

The goal of Nano-Hive@Home is to accurately simulate nanosystems too large to be calculated via normal means, and thereby enable further scientific study in the field of nanotechnology.

I've been visiting the site on a daily basis and I'm eagerly waiting for the project to open.

Thx for the info Andy!

Beta testing of NanoHive@Home is open. Please read the Getting started page for System Requirements, Project Characteristics, and Beta Testing Guidelines.
Client apps and work will be uploaded Tuesday, October 3.
In the meantime, feel free to peruse the website and attach a host or two to the project."

We hit a snag with the servers yesterday and have been working to resolve the issue. We do have a client and WUs ready to upload, so once we iron out the server issue, open beta testing will commence.
Beta testing of NanoHive@Home is (almost) open. Please read the Getting started page for System Requirements, Project Characteristics, and Beta Testing Guidelines.
In the meantime, feel free to peruse the website and attach a host or two to the project.

Some info from the forum:

"Welcome back to another round of NHAH beta testing! Please welcome about a thousand new testers, and please read at least the next two paragraphs.

Known issues:

Progress is pegged at 50% during WU calculation, this also means that the "Time to completion" value is incorrect

Suspending, then quickly resuming a WU can destabilize the calculation

Screensaver graphics is still heavy on the CPU and is lacking rotate, pan, and zoom functions

Multiple running screensaver graphics windows may kill each other

Error posting guideline:
If you detect an issue, either a WU processing error, or problem with the website, or anything else that looks wrong, please post a description of it in an appropriate thread in the Beta test feedback forum. While our monitoring software shows every error that your BOINC Manager reports, it doesn't give us what happened leading up to the error, so posting a bit of context often helps. The first time you get an error, please post around twenty lines of Messages tab entries, with the error in the middle. This gives lots of context wrt what was going on at the time of the error. If you get what looks like the same error again, you don't need to post it.

To make the Results page a little easier to read, on the "Your account" page, under the "Work done" section, you'll now find a little "+" link next to the "View" link for results. This opens a page with a results table that stretches out to the full width of the window, and highlights "Client error" outcomes in red. It also shows 50 results at a time instead of 20.

Thanks,
--Brian."

Bleh. I got one work unit worth 4.23 points yesterday morning and then the site said there was no more work available.

Oh well, at least I'm not at zero points any more... ;)

We're going to let this batch of WUs finish to end this round of testing, then pause WU production while we address several issues that have arisen. There are some new bugs to fix to be sure, but we need to implement some mechanisms that help ensure a wider distribution of available WUs. This is to help enforce the necessary parallelism for our simulations, but also to make WU availability more fair.
Email will be sent when the next round of beta testing starts in a couple weeks, and next time everybody should find several WUs available to them for crunching.
We greatly appreciate your efforts and patience in testing NanoHive@Home.

NanoHive@Home begins beta test round 5.08/client 1.21/server today. A new limited-cache mechanism is activated for this round to improve the parallelization of effort for iteration-based simulations.

"Hello Testers,

We've added some WUs into the queue for crunching. We've been working on server-side issues so the client is the same as for the last round (version 5.08, with the same known issues.)

As with the previous testing sessions, please read the opening post of the "Open beta testing 5.08/client 1.21/server" thread in the "Beta test feedback" topic at the Message boards, crunch some WUs, take note of any issues with this round's limited-cache mechanism, and post them back at the thread.

We greatly appreciate your efforts in testing NanoHive@Home,

--Brian."

Btw the links you gave are both invalid.
Should be this or this

For those like me who know naff all about Nano@home this page is informative :)

Yep, you're right! I tried my own link and it died!!! How embarassing!! Thanks bud : -)
