Might be possible, might not. Might be a good idea, might not :)

Anyway we can add a field for users that will track their previous usernames? It's a pain to keep track of whose who when they change their usernames.

Just a thought :)

And how would you suggest that works when people can get around it easily?

Also that would cause way to many issues.

Well what I meant is if I ask the moderator to change my username to dabuddha2004, then it'll track that in my profile page. I'm not referring to folks that try to register new accounts to bypass a ban, just folks that have their account names changed by moderators.

Just an idea because it's hard to know whether a certain person should be taken serious or not when you don't recognize their name but see that they have over 20k posts and have been registered for awhile (aka they had their name changed).

While it doesn't happen often, I occasionally see posts by users with tons of posts, joined 10 years ago, and I've never seen their name before. No way to easily see that the poster used to post under a different name... unless that is sometimes the point?

The name on all the old posts changes to the new name. Sometimes, you can find the name change request in PFI. Like Olds said, the mods track changes, but user's don't have a 'easy as pie' way to see change history. to be fair though, there are VERY few name changes.

If name changes were tracked and viewable what would be the point in the 1st place? If you really wanna figure it out you can go back and find where the user in question has been quoted. Match up the name in the quote with the person who originally quoted it.

I'd like to change mine to "Dave's Man"

There is an add-on for that.
On another v-Bull board you click on the users profile and can bring up a log which shows all name changes:

Would be nice to know as I had no idea that Lean L was iamanidiot. Or that Skoorb is still among us but with a changed name. Makes you wonder who is who sometimes.

That's basically why :) There was a poster in OT whose posting style looked familiar but I had no idea who it was until someone called him by his old name lol
