I am thinking a Falcon not a Hawk. But what is the Genus-Species?

Short for Halkon.
Bird in photo is either a Halkon or a Fawk.

That's a bald eagle, our American bird.

<slaps head> I googled Halkon...
(come on coffee...kick in!)
The face in the pic almost resembles an owl, but I don't think that's what it is. Could they be ospreys? (aka, fish-hawks) (I don't think so, based on the photo...completely different)

I'll guess red shouldered hawk, but the chest coloration looks wrong. pic

Yeah, osprey or falcon. I wish I knew how to identify them, the shape of the beak and the breast color and markings on the wing and shape of tail should narrow it down. Maybe google "bird of prey identification"?

looking closely on the original photo you can see red on its shoulders: http://www.panoramio.com/photos/original/6984696.jpg
The red "shoulder" is visible when the bird is perched. Their upper parts are dark with pale spots; they have long yellow legs. Western birds may appear more red; Florida birds are generally paler

I never can tell the falcons from the hawks. Got plenty of redtailed hawks here in KY and one that hangs around the house. Surprise, surprise I've never had rodent problems.
