Wow, you really don't know jack about Greek history, do you? If you said that in jest, forgive me. But Socrates was most certainly a real person, even if Plato may not have the most accurate portrayal of him/may use him as a means to a given end.

Extra bonus point for naming the modern day equivalent and then realizing the ramifications it has (show will be on Sirius Radio soon).

Okay, another...name the historical figure who died of a fever near babylon after winning a war.
Come on...try picking someone whose movie isn't in theaters right now :)

Well, I never saw it.

Fine...next one...hmmm..

Okay, obscure one:

Name this famous Stoic war leader and dictator who also wrote philosophical treatises.

Edit: Hint: he was Italian

No googling.

Cookie for the right answer.

Marcus Aurelius?

Yes!

I'm impressed, that was quite obscure.

Who wants next?

it is not that hard when you mention stoic, there aren't many. he is a Roman and an emporer. he is definitely not a dictator by any means. he is one of the good guys. :)

what's next? ;)

Okay, since there are no takers:

This man created his nation's organized army, helped modernize his nation by opening it to the west, sent hundreds of his citizens to western europe to learn arts and crafts.
He moved his nation's capital to a new cty he built.

I don't want this to be easy, but I'm afraid I've made this one too hard.

Okay, hint: he expanded his nation towards the baltics, taking land on the baltic coast.

agreed, but if I said 'emperor' it would have been too easy ;), I figured dictator would throw people off the trail.

The romans did appoint 'dictators' in times of trouble, and Julius Caesar was given the title 'dictator for life'

Edit: Next challenge is in the previous post.
