For a Japanese Sushi & Steak House (sorta like Bennihanna). I was thinking of either Kobe or Shogun. If you have a better idea, please let me hear it... thanks. This is to be opened up in San Jose 😀.

EDIT: Serious please.

Shogun is alread used, eat there often (they have a great sushi bar).
So there might be a trademark and copyright issue with that one.

It's not copy righted, and majority of those restaurants are in Texas. That's why I'm hunting for a different name, thanks for the inputs though.

Coming from a Japanese speaking person, you should never use common words like Tokyo, Osaka, Shogun, Fuji, etc. in a name. That to me immediately gives away the fact that it's not a real Japanese restaurant but a Korean or Chinese one.

Are you trying to get Asian, white or a mixed crowd in your restaurant? That's important in determining the name you need.

Give us something to go by. What is the theme? Is it trendy? Old fashioned? Authentic Japanese? Neo-Japanese?
I don't know if you have ever been been to Benni, but we do live cooking, very trendy and on consider a first class place (600k renovate). Decor will be somewhat neo, but also old fashion theme. The food is authentic.

Crowd will be mixed, this is in San Jose, so will be some white (probably majority), and asian. That's the reason why I wanted something recognizable as Japanese (though, to the authentic Japanese, it might seem cliche). But if you guys have good suggestions, I'd consider them. Thanks again.

I personally think something with Jo in it sounds cool. Jo means castle in Japanese. Something like Honjo or Senjo.

Let me think during lunch.

I will be in SJ on Monday for biz. Too bad its not open now bc I expect a free dinner if you take my name. 🙂
