About three years ago, I was iffy about getting a pair of Maui Jim prescription wrap around sun glasses because of the cost, as well as not sure if the curvature of the lens would mess up my prescription (astigmatism).

Fast forward to now - I can't do without them - they performed beyond expectation and were worth every penny!

An expensive Logitech Universal Remote Control. Spent about $200 for it. At times I thought to myself: "WTF am I thinking? I'm not going to spend $200 on a freaking remote!"

Now I can't live without it.

I have the exact same pair. They are my Sports shades, while my Ray bans are more formal ones.

Same - my Harmony 880 and then Harmony One are critical items in my home theatre.

Same here. I almost bought the cheaper one (not like me) but my wife talked me into getting the one I really liked. Now I can't live without the thing.

A Cell phone. I didn't want to be accessible so that people could call me any where any time. So when I did get around to getting a cell phone (late 90s), I turned it off most of the time, and only used it when I wanted to.

My first computer - sometime around 1994, it was a packard bell, windows 3.11, 75mhz, 8 megs of memory. When I wife and I were buying the system, we did not really know what we were going to be using it for.

Fast forward to today, and computers are part of our everyday life.
