I am in need of a new part time job that pays decent. I currently have my job at a company which will not accommodate for me and my school schedule at college. It's severely disappointing because I have a hard time finding jobs that pay $11 or more an hour that are part time and I actually don't think this one is that bad. ( I make $12 an hour at the current job).

Right now I'm working for a call center that is contracted through AT&T and I work Monday-Friday 4 PM to 9 PM, I put in a simple request to switch my schedule to 8 AM - 1 PM and this is a 24/7, 365 day a year tech support call center so that should easily be arrangable but they say they have "no business need at that particular time." I find it funny that they won't even arrange for one of their top performers, who has paved the way in their new performance program.

I am in the process of contacting HR and talking to them about this issue and why they would be so willing to let a good employee go when there are tons of shitty ones out there and they have a hard enough time finding good people to work for them.

In the meantime I am getting some more ideas for where I could get another part time job that would allow me to either work from 8 AM - 1 PM or 8 PM - 1 AM (my school schedule takes up all other times on various days).

I would appreciate any and all ideas you guys have, as I need to pay for my apartment and food/gas. I am going to school for digital animation, I'm artistic and I've been working with computers for a long time, but I don't have any certifications (I know just as much about computers as someone with a cert though). and I'm turning 21 here on Friday so that should give you an idea of my age and capabilities.

Cliffs:
1. Company I work for has me employed part time in evenings at $12 an hour
2. School schedule with college forces me to switch my work schedule
3. Company will not switch my schedule from evenings to mornings.
4. Search for new job begins while in process of talking to HR.

Maybe something that isn't quite that drastic, after all the last thing I need is a criminal record that compromises my future in the industry.

Try doing research at your school. Biology dept at my school paid fairly well, and I made my own schedule.

prostitute/drug dealer?

also, temping, though with any corporate job, it's going to be hard to get your perfect schedule, especially something like 8-1 which I'd imagine a lot of new parents might covet.

On a more serious note, some posters have already mentioned some pretty good choices:

valet (my friend used to make $100-$200 a night)
starbucks ($8-$10 an hour, relatively stress-free environment)
UPS (hard to get into, but good pay and good benefits)
bartender
