Im in the process of gathering all the knowledge I can for my first HT build. This forum has been very helpful so far, but what are some other sites or forums I can visit to research more about

-basement finishing for a media room
-speakers/subs/DIYs/etc
-HT electronics
-etc

Another site that i've been looking at (although it overwhelms me at times) is avsforums. Besides there, where else can I look? Where do the gurus like yoyo go when they have a question?

avsforum has a dedicated theatre build sub forum that is one of the best out there.

other sites are hometheatreshack.com and htguide.com

Google searching avsforum usually yields the best results for me. The main positive to avsforum is that it probably contains the info you want. The main negative is that it's difficult to find that info. I've gotten pretty good with my searching on there, but it often takes a few different searches before finding what I want. Every time I find a thread I like, I subscribe to it even if it's years old. That allows me to find it quickly and easily later on.

Even though I don't like the way people post on there, I think Head-Fi has the best information regarding headphones. avforums has yielded some good info in the past, but I typically only go there if it comes up in a general Google search.

HT guide and the parts express tech talk forum are where I go when I want to kill some time. They're more focused on the DIY and not as geeky about high priced components.
